We've Failed Again on 13/2/2010
Many lives fell apart in Pune and the world around, when the bomb blast hit the reputed German Bakery Shop.. I don't know the reason for writing this article..but somewhere I too was in tears...

How could parents, advancing in the old age understand the logic and destiny, when they lose their young sons whose eyes were full of dreams and sparks. How could friends and family believe that their friend who was on a tour of this city, won't ever return? Are the terrorists so ruthless. They're, indeed. Can't they see what they do? Don't they see that targeting innocent lives is a mere sign of extreme cowardice. Going to a shop that represents the cultural unification of the entire world, threads various countries and brings hosts of memories to many people - bombing that place, is never a step that can prove their mettle and courage, for the so-called-causes, supposedly for which the terrorists are fighting.
By no means, by the rationality of any logic and by any explanation, their stand is justified in killing innocent lives. They never fight face to face. They don't have the courage. For they're afraid of our unity and power (not of the political parties, sadly but the unity of youth). They know they can't win over us. They can only break our bones, amputate us, but they can never ever break our spirits. The spirit of India. The spirit of World. The Spirit of Humanity. Their only aim is to make us feel pathetic and feel helpless. We do get annoyed, helpless and agonized, you cowards, but then if you all are in any wrong assumption that we will hide in our homes and be afraid of you, forget that. Don't even imagine that.
The Indian youth is not going to be afraid of your will to stop our growth. Be it Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Pune, Gujarat, Chennai etc, the Indian youth remains united to prove that you'll never ever succeed. And be it New York or London, the age of Men is no more going to tolerate this treachery. The world is just one place for each one of us. The youth feels helpless because those at the top of political and social hierarchy, have made the entire system so complex and difficult that even if the youth tries, he often ends up being killed or harassed. Now, I know this constant blabbering about the Indian political system won't take us anywhere.
We are the One (Youth), who can, who should and who must Unite in a more holistic approach to tackle the menace of these treacherous deeds. Websites will make the "attack topic" their primary and secondary key words. Media will sensitize the issue. Political parties will play the mud-slinging games and this will carry on...it has carried on...since time immemorial. The political parties never fight in unison for this most important task. They never. They'll fight for not letting some movie release, they'll fight for reservation of all sorts, they'll fight for vote bank, they'll fight for language, caste, demand of new states, higher wages, better facilities, etc. I don't say that these causes are not to be fought for, but then these causes have made this country sandwiched into fragments. No one is ready to take responsibility. It only happens when the deeds are done.
The intelligence system, the policing and the laws are fine. They protect. They've helped us. But then they've failed often, frequently letting some serious damage to the innocent lives. I don't want to argue with someone about anything. I just wish if things could become better and our leaders are more accountable to us. How is all this going to happen? I don't know. I can only pray, for better things, better days. Yesterday, my friends lost their lives, today I, you or the person sitting next to you might have to lose his life. We don't know anything. Though unwillingly and with loads of hesitation in my mind, I've to only say, still there is HOPE. This could probably, motivate us to fight those cowards, till our last breath. Lastly, prayers for those who succumbed to death due to these attacks and may God give courage and wisdom to the families to face the facts. Although, some losses are never healed.
With fond memories of Ankik Dhar, a close friend's acquaintance of mine in IIT-Kharagpur, who lost his precious life at the tender age of 23 in Pune bombings, my eyes are filled with tears. I never met him. I never saw him. But my close friend was associated with him. I talked to him, yesterday and he broke into tears. So did I. May be, I too felt that I lost an acquaintance, a talented and brilliant son of this nation. May his soul rest in peace. All, I can say, let's hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.....
