Weight Regain after Weight Loss

Weight loss can be achieved by a balanced nutritious diet and regularly exercising. This every one knows. But all weight plans don’t suit everybody. Since people have different body, a plan that suits one person might not suit another. Some people succeed while some don’t. Though a majority of people are successful in achieving the weight loss they desire, the main problem is that many of them regain weight again. Once you have lost weight, there is a tendency to eat some delicious fatty food. Weight loss can be done easily but to manage weight and prevent weight regain is a difficult task.

Reduce your calories:
Reducing your calories is important. Each food item has got calories. This does not mean that you have to count the calories and keep an account. Only thing you have to do is to consume fewer calories. Yogurt has very low calories. Also avoid fats and sugar.

Exercise:
Another way of to maintain your weight is to burn calories everyday. How? Everyone knows the answer. The big ‘E’ that is Exercise! Aerobic exercise everyday helps you to burn calories. You also have to do strength training exercises. This helps to increase the muscle mass in your body. Muscle mass burns the calories in your body, and uses it as fuel for their maintenance. So regular exercising helps your body to burn fuel everyday, maintaining the weight you have lost, and preventing you from regaining weight due to extra calories.

Take time:
I have heard people complain that "I have been dieting for so long, but I have not lost weight" or "I have been exercising regularly, but there is no effect". What you don’t understand is that losing weight will take time. This makes people tend to lose their patience and lose interest in their weight loss program and of course start eating again. Now what happens? You are bound to regain back the weight you lost. So the longer time it takes, the longer you will be able to keep your weight off.

Yoyo system:
The yoyo system of losing weight, regaining weight, again losing and regaining weight, is to be avoided. This is bad for your health and will not help you to maintain weight long.

Tips to control eating habits:
Control your eating habits so that you don’t regain weight again. A few ways to control your eating habits are;

-Recognize hunger. There is a difference between real hunger and craving for food. Avoid craving.
-Divert your mind: Sometimes stress and emotions make you feel hungry. Divert your mind. Watch a movie, listen to music, talk to your friend or visit somebody. You can plan so many other things than eating.
-Avoid keeping unhealthy foods at home. Try not to keep high calorie food or food containing sweet, around the house. You will have a tendency to try little, which will end up in a little more.
-If you want to eat something between meals, have a cup of yogurt, or a fruit. Both are low calorie. You can also have some unbuttered popcorn. Avoid fried or oily food.
-Eat a balanced diet. Avoid sugar and saturated fat. Include proteins and fiber in your diet. Don’t avoid breakfast. Increase the frequency of eating. This will prevent you from feeling hungry. The more times digestion takes place, the more calories you burn.
-Also exercise regularly, so that any excess calories in your body will be burned , thereby maintaining your weight.

Go slow, that is most important. If you are exercising at home or in a gym, don’t start rigorously. Start slowly and then slowly increase your pace. You will feel tired and also cause injuries to your muscle tissue. Take time to lose weight, so that you can retain it longer.
