Weight Loss Motivation through Commitment and Knowledge
Weight loss motivation, commitment and knowledge are the main ingredients to a successful weight loss. Learn how to get committed, gain knowledge and stay motivated to lose weight.
Weight loss motivation, commitment and knowledge are the key factors that successful losers have. And by losers, I mean people who have lost the weight and kept it off. Many people want to lose weight and often start off great, but lose their motivation or commitment along the way.
To be successful at your weight loss program you must make a commitment and stick to it. In addition you want to gain as much knowledge on weight loss to lose weight the healthy way and keep it off. And lastly, you need weight loss motivation to start, continue and complete your weight loss goal. Basically you need to stay motivated throughout your weight loss journey.
Commitment to Weight Loss
Although saying you need to make a commitment may seem a bit ridiculous. Why else would you be reading this article if you were not committed to losing weight. Well just saying you want to lose weight and being committed to it can be two different things.
Saying you want to lose weight is just the start to making a commitment. Enhance your commitment by developing a weight loss plan. The plan should first be focused on your goals. Make your ultimate goal in terms of number of pounds or inches you want to lose or even by clothing size of body fat lost. This is the goal that you will be working towards throughout your weight loss journey.
Make smaller and measurable goals that you can use to track your progress along the way. Make them by the week or the month. Making smaller goals helps you stay focused and committed towards your long term goal. Each week or month you can plan out your meals and exercise plans. Keep in mind as with any goals there will be unexpected road blocks. Don’t get discouraged just adjust your goals when needed as life will happen and it cannot be avoided.
Knowledge
Arm yourself with knowledge about weight loss. Weight loss motivation and commitment alone will not make you lose weight. You must have the right information in order to lose the weight and keep it off.
Determine what the right daily calorie intake is for you to lose weight. In order to do this you must understand your basal metabolic rate (BMR). This is the rate at which you burn calories by doing every day things. It is determined using your age and gender, weight and height and activity level. So each person’s BMR is unique to them.
Once you understand how many calories you burn then you will need to create a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. You can do this by either consuming fewer calories or by exercising more or a combination of both. In order to lose 1 pound a week you need to create a calorie deficit of about 500 calories and for 2 pounds about 1,000 calories deficit. Don’t reduce calories by too much or you will slow down your metabolism and could actually gain weight.
Weight Loss Motivation
The last ingredient you need to be successful at your weight loss is motivation. Weight loss motivation is not something you can buy over the counter but rather has to come from you. You just need to find that something or someone to inspire you and give you your weight loss motivation.
Here are some weight loss motivation tips that may inspire you.
1. Build a support group that will help keep you motivated. This can be friends, family, coworkers or a support group through a weight loss program or on-line forum. Being able to talk to people about your weight loss progress or frustrations is a great way to stay connected and on track.
2. Celebrate as you reach your smaller goals. Try rewarding yourself with something other than food like new shoes, a hair cut or a fun night out with your friends or significant other. Track these goals by keeping a calendar or weight loss ticker.
3. Lastly, create your own motivational sayings and tips. Create one or several and post it where you can read it each day. You know yourself best and therefore can create a personalized weight loss motivation tip that will inspire you.
