Weight Loss Diets: Switching Ingredients for a Healthier Diet

Eating healthy isn't an easy switch to make for some people. Most people want to eat healthier foods, but think they will lose the flavor and joy in their favorite dishes.

It is possible to have both and be happy. You can still enjoy some of those favorite melt-in-your-mouth dishes. All you need to do is to replace some of the more fattening ingredients with healthier alternatives and you have yourself a healthy dish! The dishes will still taste good. Here are some examples of ways you can make your favorite dishes healthier by substituting certain ingredients:

Bacon now comes in vegan, soy and turkey alternatives. You still get to have your "bacon" so you don't feel deprived and the alternatives are healthy.

Eggs aren't as good for a person as was previously believed. You can try to cut back on egg consumption, or you can use an egg substitute or just the egg whites. Either is a good way to cut back on to many eggs.

Try using whole wheat flours and pasta in place of bleached white flour. Using wheat flour in baking is another healthy alternative.

Olive oil is another suggestion to replace the use of corn oil in the diet, it can also be used in salad dressings. It has less calories and fat than other alternatives.

Chicken is a great food, as a source of dietary protein. Remember to leave the skin, it is the least healthy part of chicken.

Chocolate is laden with fats that aren't good for us, so in place of chocolate try using cocoa. It allows you to have more control of the amount of fat and sugar used in your favorite dessert recipes.

Honey is an alternative to using artificial sweeteners' or real sugar in recipes. Honey has antibacterial qualities and is good for your body. You will find people are less sensitive to honey than to other artificial replacements.

Healthy diet changes don't have to mean you can't eat your favorite things. By substituting certain ingredients, you will find tastier ways to incorporate good foods into your diet.
