Wedding Speeches

A wedding is the perfect time to express your feelings with simple words that touch the heart, it is time to celebrate the bond of eternal love and give way to emotions. A wedding speech be it the bride, the groom, the father/mother of the bride/groom, the best man or the bridesmaid, wedding speeches are all about love, emotions, celebration, gratitude and joy.
Giving a wedding speech might not be a very easy task for everyone. If you are not confident about your impromptu speaking skills, better you write down your wedding speech well in advance and may be even rehearse it a few times before the wedding. While preparing for the speech, think of all the people who are going to be at the wedding, the exact emotions that you want to convey and then put it into words. If required, take help from friends and family. Most often friends and family help you to think of fond memories and instances that you can quote in the wedding and can obviously help you decide the ones to mention and the ones to keep out of the wedding speech.
In case that doesn’t suffice, refer to some books or log on to the Internet to get some advice on writing wedding speeches. The Internet has a wide variety of sources that can help you with such tasks. In case you are not the bride or the groom in the wedding, and have to prepare your best man speech, mother-of-the bride speech or other such speeches, make sure you pick out incidents that will be well received by the bride and groom. No matter how many funny incidents about the couple you have up your sleeve, do not pull out the ones that will embarrass the couple. Try and avoid objectionable anecdotes for example the ones that make references to the groom’s ex-girlfriend, or the bride’s ex-boyfriend and so on.
In case you are at loss of words while expressing your feelings, or seem stuck on how you could start or end the wedding speech in a beautiful manner, try and incorporate interesting wedding poetry or quotes in your wedding speech. In case you are aware of a particular poet or a particular song that the couple is especially fond of, try and incorporate those lyrics in your wedding speech. Preferably pick out short and simple quotes instead of something that is too wordy and complicated.
When it is time for you to give your wedding speech, make sure you make yourself audible and request the audience to take note of the speech. Speak clearly and slowly. Although you can have a small card to remember your points for the wedding speech, it look rather put-on and takes away the essential charm of the emotions. Instead try speaking as you simultaneously recollect the points in your head. Always keep wedding speeches spontaneous, simple and expressive. The best wedding speeches are the candid ones, the unrehearsed flow of words that come right from the heart. No fancy quotations, no classic poetry verses, just simple words of love sprinkled with genuine feelings, sweet memories of the past and beautiful dreams for the future…To the happy couple!
