Ways to Say Goodnight

I wake up at seven, get ready for work, rush through my breakfast (most times it's a burger and coffee), make my way through the traffic and finally reach office at nine. In the office its work, work and more work. I rush through files, read, write, scratch my brains out, till it is seven and time to go home. But not quite yet. I have some grocery shopping to do or have to buy something for my house or my kids. So I run up to the mall, buy some house stuff, hold my office purse in one hand and balance the shopping bags in other. Again I beat the traffic, and finally reach my destination, my home. If you think that finally I'll rest now, then let me tell you that there's still more work for me. I have to make dinner for my kids and be an audience to their narration of how their day went. So dinner, talking, family time takes up the rest of the evening till it is time to go to bed.

By the time I change and reach my bed, I feel completely lost, exhausted and sapped of energy. When I look at my husband, I see the same tiredness in him too. So that's when I decided, to get over our day blues and to spice things up, we will say goodnight to each other in the most offbeat, romantic and cutest way that anybody can think off. We planned that we will not repeat our way of saying goodnight, and will have to come up with something really innovative each night. And you will be amazed to know how many different ways we came up with to say goodnight. Here's a let down on a few of them.

Creative Ways to Say Goodnight

• Hug the person tightly, hold him or her for a while, and then say "Goodnight Sweetie".
• One of the most romantic ways to say good night is to kiss your partner on the forehead, not in a sexual way, but more so in a caring sort of way, and then say, "May angels look over you when you sleep. Good night."
• One of the cute ways to say good night, is to wish the other person in a foreign language. The Italians say 'Buona notte', French say 'Bonne nuit', Germans say 'Gute Nacht ' and the Spanish say 'Buenas noches'. So use any of these, and surprise your partner.
• To wish our children goodnight, we have found our own cute ways to say good night. We start with a poem like "Daddy loves Tommy (That's my son's nickname), Mommy loves Tommy, Grandpa John loves tommy, Grandma Ruth loves Tommy. Tommy is a blessing for our home. Good night Tommy."
• Wishing goodnight can be made funny too, if you keep some cute funny names for each other and wish good night by calling one another with them. My husband calls me an ostrich and I call him a bear. (Our body shapes have a lot to do with these names). So we say 'Goodnight my teddy bear' or 'Good night my ostrich' to lighten our moods.
• Funny one liners are also one of the good ways to say goodnight. Here's a line that I used to wish my husband good night - 'Good night my dear. May the woman in your dream be as amazing as the one next to you'.
• If you sing well or even if you do not, wishing each other good night by singing romantic songs, is another creative way of doing the same.
• In order to de-stress each other, you can trade massages, i.e., give each other a nice relaxing foot massage or neck massage and then wish each other good night.
• Playing some soft music in the background for a while and holding the other person's hand, while listening to it, is a good way to reconnect every night. Later kiss each other good night, and wish by saying the romantic words, which everybody likes to hear - "I love you baby! Good Night..Sweet Dreams!"
