Battling with the rigors of everyday life, when hardships wreak mayhem day-by-day, I rationalize even the silliest of reasons to not go to work, and sleep whole day. But then, who am I to state that I am the only one in this world to wage a daily war with stress? When fuel prices hike, bill payments almost give you a heart attack, and at the worst, you have no clue why doesn't your girlfriend love you anymore, you have a myriad reasons to believe that life is a rather tough nut to crack, and that it has skyrocketed your anxiety and stress levels as if it's an enemy till Doomsday. But then, it is this incessant tendency of coping with the circus called life that makes it livable, and I doubt I'm different from your average Jane - don't we all spend an entire lifetime battling with the distressed jiffies in order to savor and relish the happy ones? Today, let's keep all our worries at bay, and have a go at some easy ways to slack up when stress hovers. Let's have a deal with the lighter side of life. So here goes.

Get Out
Ah, that sound of those chattering keyboards, the never-ending mutter of those co-workers you hate, and that air-conditioner right above your head... Dude, you need some fresh air. Get your eyes off that fluorescent light, and feel the sunshine outside. Take a long drive. Don't switch on the AC, feel the fresh breeze while driving. If you have a bike, even better. Fuel up your vehicle, and go to places you've never really been to. New routes will distract your mind, give you something new to see, and keep problems and stress at bay. Enjoy those moments of freedom, and savor each moment like you're never going to get it back.

Put the Music On
Out of the many things technology has foisted upon us, headphones are the only thing that make my life take a turn for the better. For times when you're just too stuck in the rut, one of the best methods to get relaxed when distressed is to plug in the earphones, and forget the current episode of the world. Whether or not you agree, music is a therapy in itself. Listen to your favorite music, dance to the tunes, sing to the hymns - it might not solve the problem you're stuck in, but hey! It might just distract you for a while. Relaxation is just a bonus.

Breathe in... Breathe Out...
No matter how much you hate it, breathing exercises do work, for they bring your attention and focus to the air that you inhale and exhale. It's simple, and works perfectly. How? Let me explain. Suppose, you have a stress ball in front of you. Now, keep staring at it for a while, as you breathe in and breathe out. Don't let your mind wander anywhere else, just concentrate on the ball. This is one of the best ways to relax your mind when there's little you can do to relieve yourself.

Watch a Comedy Movie
A wise man said, when problems can be dealt with, why do you need to worry, and if problems can't be dealt with, how would worrying help? When the weather is getting you down, and you're not sure how to deal with the voices in your head, there isn't a better way to relax when depressed. All you need to do is slip on your comfy sweats, pick up a few bars of chocolate, and settle down for a laughter riot. Fetch a DVD of your favorite comedy flick, and watch it till you're out of stress. It'll just astonish you to see people laughing even in the worst of conditions. Who knows, it might just give you renewed energy to deal with your problems!

Take Some Zzzzzzz...
Too much stress? Can't think about anything else? Take a day off from work, slip into your night suit, and snooze. Put your phone on silent mode, shut the door, take the blanket on, and rush into the world of dreams, where no stress exists, and if it does, what the heck? You're just dreaming! Many a time, out of distress and anxiety, people don't sleep in the night, and end up reaching to office sleepy and tired the next day. It's time you finish off with your quota of sleeping hours. Get adequate sleep, for it's the best relaxation technique for stress.

Life - a journey, a bloody great deal, a celebration, a foe. There is nothing as infuriating, as stressing, and as conflicting as life. You can never conclude that you're done with your share of problems and stress, and that there are no working ways to relax when you're stressed, for life has something new to hint every day. There are bad days, when chips are down and blues knock at the door, and then, there are good days, when smiles brighten your day and instill faith in you to deal with stress. You may take life too seriously, or you may just take it as a joke. Perceptions, only perceptions matter.
