Ways to Raise Money for Charity

Raising money for charity can be rather difficult. Read on for some interesting ways that will help you do so…
I am sure that all of you must have heard the popular saying that, ‘Charity begins at home’. But, if you are really keen on helping the world become a better place and have a limited means of earning, then you cannot keep up the process without reaching some level of frustration or frustrating your family. To avoid such a scenario from taking place, you can extend your generous nature to your neighborhood and community by getting them involved too.

Here are some of the methods that you can use to raise money for charity by getting the schools and offices in your community to be involved. Do not hesitate to reach out to people and encourage them to help you as everyone usually has the tendency of wanting to contribute, they just do not know as to where to start from. I am sure you will get a tremendous response in everything that you undertake with a good heart. Remember to always go back to the people who have helped you at an end of the event to let them know as to how much money they have helped raise for charity as there cannot be a better morale booster than knowing how they have contributed in helping the world become a better place.

Drop Your Change

I am sure you must have seen these donation boxes at the cash counter in stores and shops wherein there is a picture or a message on the box stating where the money would go to. But you can extend this to school, college and office canteens. I have seen these boxes fill up with a lot of change in my office during the lunch times when people see a plate full of food in front of them and feel very generous.

Donate Raw Food Materials

This is another interesting concept that was implemented every year in my school and met great success. Identify a set of about eight raw food materials which are non-perishable like sugar, cornflakes, raw rice. Assign a particular item to each grade in a school. The students in the grade will have to get about 2 – 3 pounds of the item assigned to their grade. Appoint a class representative who will collect the items and store it properly from the students till every student has contributed their bit. This is an excellent method to collect food items as no one person has to shell out too much and the students get a sense of contribution when they do their bit for charity.

Hold Bake Sales

This is an age old way to raise money for charity. All the ladies and the few men who are interested in baking can hold a bake sale in their community. To ensure repeated participation from the members holding the sales, it is important that they be compensated with what they have spent to hold the sales. All additional money that they have helped generate can be used for charity proceeds.

Silent Auction

This is a slightly long and difficult process of raising money for charity. Here, you will first have to approach a few larger organizations and shops and convince them to donate a few items for your auction. I am sure that once you are able to convince them that the cause is good and your intentions are honest, it will not be too difficult. Next, organize a silent auction wherein the items to be auctioned are displayed at the center of the avenue with a drop box next to it where the people can write their bid amount and drop it in. Also, always go back to the people who have donated the items in the first place and let them know as to how much money they have helped raised.

Organize A Fair

Organize a small fair in your neighborhood over a weekend and set up a few food stalls and some kind of a show like a magic show or a dance talent show for young kids. All the additional money raised from the event can be used for charity proceeds.

Walk-A-Thon

This is a good way to raise money and stay fit. You can collect pledges from your friends, family and neighbors for every mile that you walk. You can even organize an event where a few more people will join you walking. This will not only help raise more money, it will also have more people stay fit.

All the very best!
