Ways To Keep Weight Off

Whether you have just lost a significant amount of weight or, you are already thin and would like to stay that way, there are a number of simple things you can do to keep the pounds off. Following these tips should help you make a few adjustments in your everyday life that will help you stay fit and healthy.

Tip 1: Make Sure to Eat Breakfast

One of the first things you should do in the morning is eat breakfast. It is ideal to do within and hour of waking. Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day because it sets the tone for your day. One of the keys to keeping fit is to keep your metabolism going. The longer you wait to eat after waking up in the morning, the longer it takes for your metabolism to get going. Most people that don’t eat breakfast think they don’t have enough time. That’s not true. You don’t have to make some elaborate breakfast of pancakes from scratch, eggs, bacon, etc. A bowl of cereal, preferably something not full of sugar, and a piece of fruit would do. Or a muffin, a piece of fruit and a glass of juice. You just want to make sure you get something in your system.

Tip 2: Exercise

This might seem like a no brainer, but if you want to keep the trim regular exercise will need to be a part of your routine. It might seem hard to do at first, especially if you have not exercised in the past, but it just need to become a part of your routine. You don’t have to start out by running 5 miles either. You could start by simply going for a short walk everyday. Then once you get in the swing of things you could add other types of exercise, such as going to a fitness club and using their cardio machines, or taking an aerobics class. You will want to have a few different things in your workout routine so you don’t get bored.

Tip 3: Regularly Check Your Weight

If you don not have a scale, you will want to go out and by one as soon as possible. Regularly checking and tracking your weight can have a dramatic affect on staying thin. By routinely checking your weight you will know if you start to put some pounds on, and you should be able to tell why. If one week you eat a lot of junk food and decide to forgo exercise, and then you gain a few pounds you will see that those things make a big difference. You can also make sure that you stay at your target weight easily, whereas if you only had access to a scale every so often it would be a lot harder to track.

Tip 4: If You’re Full, Stop Eating

One of the worst things you can do to yourself in your battle with weight is too eat too much. A lot of times people go back for that second helping, or force them self to finish an extremely large helping just because its there. If you full and there is still food on your plate, leave it. Save it for lunch or a snack. The worst thing you can do is stuff yourself. Also. If you finish one helping, and you’re not sure if you should have another serving, wait five minutes and see if you’re still interested. Sometimes you think you want more but after waiting a few minutes you realize that you are full

Tip 5: Don’t Tempt Yourself

If you house is full of junk food then you are just asking for trouble. Whenever you feel the need for a snack you are obviously going to be eating something that is bad for you if that’s all that is there. Ideally you want to surround yourself with healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. When you feel like snacking on something it won’t be something that is going to be hurting your progress. Most fruits, vegetables, and other snacks also have other benefits to them than just helping you keep the pounds off. Of course, you want to keep a few indulgent snacks around for once in a while, just not all the time.

Hopefully following these tips you will be able to shed a few of those extra pounds you don’t want, and keep them off.
