Ways to Cook Steak
For cooking a perfect steak, choose a flavorful meat cut with some amount of fat (not much). Each time you can try a different method for preparing the best tasting steak. Read on to find out the different ways to cook steak.

Deep-frying Steak
Ingredients
- 4 steaks, 1½ inches thick
- Light olive oil (or any other cooking oil)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For preparing steaks, clean and rinse them properly. Pat them dry and allow to settle in room temperature for half an hour before frying. By the meantime, preheat a thick frying pan over medium high heat on the stove. Pour cooking oil (about ⅛ - ¼ inch) from the bottom. When oil turns very hot, lay steaks (2 at a time), leaving some space between the pieces. If you like medium rare taste, cook steaks for 5-6 minutes per side. Transfer in a platter, and fry the remaining two pieces by following the same steps. Drain the excess oil from the fried steaks in paper towels. Sprinkle salt and pepper to suit your taste buds and serve with roasted green beans and broccoli.
Broiling Steak
Ingredients
- 4 steaks
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- A dash of fresh coarsely ground pepper
Broil steak recipe is perfect for filet mignon and ribeye steak. For broiling the steaks, you will need an oven with broiler and oven rack. Place oven rack in the center of the oven about 6 inches from the heating element. Position an oven safe frying pan on the rack. Adjust the oven setting for broiling, and preheat broiler and skillet for 15 minutes. Hoping that you have thawed and dry steaks, rub them with olive oil and seasonings (kosher salt and pepper). After preheating pan for 15 minutes, pull it out carefully and lay steaks. Close oven and sear meat for 3 minutes per side. Then, set oven temperature to 500° F, and cook steaks as per your liking.
Oven Roasting Steak
Ingredients
- 2 steaks
- 2 teaspoons cooking oil
- Salt and coarsely ground pepper to taste
If you really like steaks cooked in restaurant style, then go for oven roasting method. So, thaw steaks (if required) and dab them dry with a clean a paper towel. Preheat oven to 450° F. Also, heat a thick cast iron skillet (or another oven safe pan) on the burner in high heat setting. As the skillet turns burning hot, add 2 teaspoons cooking oil. Gently lay steaks in the pan by using tongs. Sear them for 1½ minutes per side. This brief cooking on high heat will lock juices in the meat. Following this, carefully slide skillet in the oven. Finish off the roasting process in the oven by cooking for 6 minutes or more, according to your preferred taste.
Grilling Steak

- 2 - 3 steaks (1½ inches thick)
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper for seasoning
Grilling is one of the best ways to cook steak. Prepare the steaks, and bring them to room temperature before grilling. Lightly oil them to preserve juiciness, and season with salt and pepper. Start your grill and bring it to a piping hot temperature (say 450° F). Rub the grill slats with olive oil to avoiding sticking of meat. Lay steaks over the hot grill and close lid. Lower heat to medium setting, and cook for 4-5 minutes. Flip steaks and grill for the same period for the remaining side. You will get a nice crust on the outer side with a tender meat on the inside.

This allows completion of the internal cooking process. While some foodies prefer poking steaks with forks before cooking, it drains out juices and makes the cooked meat dry.
