Water Infection Symptoms

The medical condition of water infection is actually the infection of the urinary tract. It is also known by different names such as cystitis and pyelonephritis, depending on the part of the urinary tract being affected. The bladder infection is termed as cystitis. The condition of cystitis is marked with inflammation. The other form of infection is pyelonephritis, in this infection, the kidneys are attacked by the bacteria. Water infection is seen both in men and women. It is however, observed that women are more prone to this infection.

One of the reasons cited for women being more prone to water infection than men is that the urethra and anus are close to each other in the former. The part of urinary tract affected in this problem is the bladder. The water infection is caused by bacteria. The bacteria responsible for water infection are those present in the bowel. They cause infection by entering the urethra.

Symptoms of Water Infection

The pain caused while urinating is an important symptom experienced by patients of water infection. The term dysuria is used for pain or burning sensation experienced while urinating. Water infection symptoms in men are no different than those observed in women. The different symptoms of water infection are discussed below.
  • Pain experienced in the abdominal region is one of the symptoms of water infection. Along with the abdominal region, pain is also felt in the lower region of ribs and lower back.
  • The color of urine turns cloudy in this medical condition. The urine also exhibits foul odor.
  • Other symptoms like flu, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and chills are also observed in patients of water infection.
  • Vaginal bleeding is a symptom observed in women.
  • The person with water infection also exhibits a symptom of urinating in small amounts, even if the bladder is full.
The symptoms of urinary tract infection mentioned in the above list, if experienced for more than 24 hours, should be reported to a doctor. It is dangerous to leave this problem untreated since, the infection further spreads to the kidneys.

Treatment of Water Infection

Drinking adequate amount of water is an important treatment measure. A good recovery is observed with the intake of proper amount of water. Water helps in washing out bacteria from the body. The intake of water is also a preventive measure. Drinking cranberry juice is another way of treating water infection. This juice kills bacteria present in the urinary tract. These treatment measures along with urinary tract infection antibiotics help in quick recovery from water infection. The diagnosis of water infection is carried out by conducting a test. A specimen of clean-catch urine is tested for the presence of bacteria.

The water infection symptoms in women and men, as stated earlier are almost the same. The possibility of women acquiring this infection is however, greater than men. The bladder and kidney infection symptoms and treatment mentioned above, should enable us in taking quick action to cure the problem of water infection.
