Water in Ear Remedy

I love to swim, and thus, often suffer from water in ear problems, which is widely known as the swimmer's ear. Using ear plugs does prevent the water from entering the ear, but I often lose ear plugs while diving into the pool and therefore experience water in ear pain. Keep reading, if you suffer from the same ailment and are looking for an effective water in ear remedy.
One often gets water in their ears, while swimming or bathing. Water in ear, because of bathing can be easily gotten rid of. But, water in ear from swimming is more painful, because water in a swimming pool contains chemicals and germs. Such a situation calls for a suitable water in ear remedy.

Swimmer's ear symptoms include itching and pain in the ears, decreased hearing and stuffy feeling in the ears. One might also experience sudden sharp pain, milky colored discharge and swelling of the ear and lymph nodes. In certain cases, one might hear a buzzing sound and the skin of the ear may start looking sore and scaly.

Remedy #1
Tilt your head to one side, put your index finger in the ear and wiggle the finger. This will allow the unnecessary water to come out. Repeat the same for the other ear.

Remedy #2
This is one of my favorite remedies for water in ear and is very effective, especially if you have got water in your ears recently. You would have seen many people use this remedy at swimming pools. Stand-up on your right leg and tilt your head to the right side. Jump 8 times. The gravity and the jumping, will push out the water from the ear. Repeat similarly for the left side.

Remedy #3
Take a hair dryer and set it at the lowest temperature. Check the heat of the air on your wrist. Hold it at an arm's length and blow on the affected ear for 30 seconds.

Remedy #4
This is one of the best water in ear treatment. Rubbing some alcohol inside the affected ear can help. The alcohol causes the unnecessary water in the ear to evaporate, and kills the germs causing the infection.

Remedy #5
For a home remedy for inner ear infection treatment, put two drops of vinegar in the affected ears every two hours.

Remedy #6
Make a salt and water solution with 1 cup water and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Make sure that the solution is at body temperature. Flush out the affected ear, with this saline solution, using a bulb syringe.

Remedy #7
There are many ear drops available, over-the-counter, for swimmer's ears. Read the label for instructions and use the ear drops accordingly. Such ear drops greatly help to reduce the infection, caused by water in ear after swimming.

Remedy #8
Take a few cloves of garlic and crush them. In a small pan, take the garlic and add some olive oil. Warm this mixture, but ensure that you do not boil it. Strain the mixture and let it cool. Put several drops of the mixture in the ear. With garlic's antibiotic property and olive oil's healing ability, this home remedy works very well, as a cure for water in ear.

Remedy #9
Using heating pads is one of the many ear pain home remedies. Fold a hand towel and place it between your ear and the heating pad. Do not use the heating pad for long, as this might burn the ear.

Remedy #10
Make a solution with 1 spoon water and 1 spoon apple cider vinegar. Put 3 drops of this solution in the ears. You can also use this solution before you go swimming, to prevent infection. This home remedy for water in ear, helps to get rid of ear infections.

Remedy #11
Take some painkillers like ibuprofen or aspirin, for ear pain relief. Do not have consume too many painkillers. If you suffer from ear pain for several days, visiting an ENT specialist is the advice.

Water in ear can be easily treated by using any of the above water in ear remedies. It maybe a better idea to consult a medical practitioner, when one experiences severe symptoms. These symptoms may include extreme ear pain, milky or yellow discharge from the ears, chills and fever. The doctor might use a suction device to remove water in ear. This suction treatment is very effective.

Do not use an ear bud, as this might push the water further inside and increase the infection. If you ever had ear surgery or have had a ruptured eardrum, consult your doctor before using any of the above remedies. If you often suffer from ear problems due to water, pour baby oil in the ear, before you go swimming or use good quality ear plugs. If you take necessary precautions, you can reduce the discomfort caused by water in ear. And if the condition persists, you can always resort to the above-mentioned remedies.
