Washing Machine Troubleshooting
A washing machine is one of the most important household appliances. However, often it may encounter certain problems like water leaks onto the ground, wrong temperature ranges for washing and a lot of noise. These problems require troubleshooting it effectively.

Troubleshooting a Washing Machine
Troubleshooting problems in the washing machine may not be a very simple job. You have to investigate each and every part of and then relate all the possible faults. The following are the various problems that you may encounter while using these machines.
Problem 1: Slow Water Speed
You have connected the pipe to the washer tub and still the water speed with which the washer is being filled, is very slow, and that can be irritating! You wait there for long time only to find the washer half filled! Well, go and check the tap connections first! May be you haven't fully turned on the tap! Ok, I understand that nobody can be so dumb, still, it is good to check it first. If water tap is fully turned on , it's highly probable that the inlet water valves have a leakage. Further, check out your filter screens and see if there is any blockage in them. Water inlet valves have filter screens that prevent any debris or waste from going inside the water valves. Check them out for any blockages.
Problem 2: Loud Noise or No Noise From the Washer
Often, it happens that the washer is working, but the loud noise accompanying it makes it impossible for you to work it! From where does this unusual sound arise? The first and foremost test is to check if the washer is not over heated. Often, when used continuously for long hours, the internals parts of the washing machine get heated up and this can be a reason of the extra noise created by the machine. Also, test the motor and water pumps, as they can be a reason behind this problem.
If there is no noise coming from the washer, then you can be sure that the machine is not getting suitable current to work. Immediately check the fuse/circuit breaker. We must have seen the fuse boxes installed in our homes. A fuse box for every appliance, prevents them from experiencing any voltage fluctuations. Before the instrument is damaged, the fuse wires melt and disconnect the appliance, thereby protecting it from serious harm. Checking a fuse wire is simple, but if you don't have any idea on how to do it, do call an electrician and avoid the unnecessary risks.
Problem 3: Wet Clothes, Even After Drying In The Spin Tub
If the clothes are not drying properly, even after passing through the spin cycle, then check the drain and the spin tubs. The problem may be in either of the two. While checking for spin, check if the timer control is working properly. Often, a faulty timer will quickly shut off the spin tub, leaving the clothes wet. This problem will be easily apparent as the spin will be shut off quickly. Also, inspect the water pump, it may be supplying water to the tub even when not required. Check the motor coupler, transmission pulleys and lid switch as well.
Problem 4: Clothing Is Damaged
If the washing machine is causing some serious threat to your clothes, then it's time to wake up and check the fault. You may find rust marks on your clothes and not know where they have come from. Well, check the agitator and the inner parts that are regularly subjected to water. Often, due to years of washing, they may show signs of rusting. However, this problem occurs only if you handle your washing machine roughly and leave it unattended for months. Check out for any cracks and rough spots in the machine. Don't use the machine unless you eliminate this problem, or else your clothes may get spoiled.
Problem 5: Water Overflows the Tubs
If your washer overflows regularly, then the water level switch may not be working properly. See if it indicates a proper level of the water. Also, check if the air tube is working properly and water inlet valves are functioning properly.
Troubleshooting a washing machine is not a very simple job, unless you are a professional or experienced person. However, if you have a sound understanding of electrical appliances and their workings, a repair manual can be very handy. Always take safety precautions, like wearing insulated gloves and then work with electrical appliances.
