Warm Lips, Cold Feet Don't Move Me

Another early work. Comments welcome.
Empty statements,
Mirthless laughs.
I am tired of the smiles
That never reach your eyes.

Your stares belie
Your silence,
As those kisses mock
Your resolve to forget.

Aloofness only highlights
Your loneliness;
Your prickliness just shows
Your fears.

Do you really think
A blank face hides
The restlessness
You feel inside?

But you hold on
To solitude,
And so I cling
To pride.

Open arms,
Closed heart.
What you offer
Is simply not enough.
