Warm Colors

The colors/pigments found in nature can be classified on the basis of chroma, value and hue. The term chroma is used in measuring degree of brilliance/grayness. Value means the lightness or darkness of a particular pigment. The important thing here for us to consider is the property called 'hue' i.e. warmth and coolness of a particular color. Among the different warm colors and shades, orange is the warmest. Blue color on the other hand is the coolest color.

Warm colors bring with them a lot of energy and are bold. These colors are used when you need to emphasize a particular thing. Cool colors however, take a backseat when used with warmer ones. One of the characteristics of warm shades is that they appear to 'advance'. It leads it to appear forward. Walls of the room thus, appear closer to each other. Colors for Kitchens
The different shades of warm color bring in a lot of energy and have a soothing effect on the mind. Using French terra cotta tiles for the floor and maple cabinetry gives the desired warm effect to kitchens. The kitchen should be a place which bustles with energy. Colors used for decorating/designing should therefore reflect that kind of vibrancy. Shades like yellow ocher and olive green are best suited for kitchens with Italian style. To give that Mediterranean look to the kitchen, one should also try out colors like orange and red.

In choosing warm shades for basements, the following points need to be taken into account. Basement being the lowermost component/section of the house, it is relatively a darker area than other rooms. Hence, the need to brighten up this section arises. This can be effectively done by means of painting it properly. Yellow is the best choice to paint basements. Shades of yellow being used to color the basement should be a light one. Placing sofas with dark colors will make the light yellow shade attract attention. Red colors with a tinge of yellow also go well with basements.
