War Scars

Just a poem about war…that’s all.
Weapons in hand, you make your stand
No time for laughter or fun
Once one gun blows, the other one goes
The war has just begun

Leave your friend until his end
He should have stayed behind
A gun was shot and how hard he fought
It still burns fresh in your mind

They bite the dust and sudden lust
For home you find so strong
But no turning back, or it fades to black
But you linger in war all month long

You see a chance for a sweet romance
With the bullet barricade
One shot, your down and no one frown
To black, that he now fades

If you survive, praise God, YOU’RE ALIVE!
No tears from your lover this night
But the memory burns as the world turns
You still live in fear of the fight
