Walt Disney's Enchanted
Combining real-life and animation, Disney's Enchanted tells the story of modern day New York City clashing with fairytale.
Disney’s modern-day princess tale "Enchanted" easily fit the glass slipper, when it cast a fairytale spell on the American Box office by grossing $50 million on its opening weekend over the Thanksgiving Holidays. Debuting at No.1 only Toy Story 2 has seen better success when in 1999 it grossed over $80 million on holiday weekend.
Enchanted released on November 21st, 2007, directed by Kevin Lima and written by Bill Kelly tells the tale of a Fairy Princess sent to our world by an evil Queen. The actions of wicked witch Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) send a classic Disney fairytale story on a collision course with our world set in modern day New York City.
The magical plot of Enchanted sees Giselle (Amy Adams), your typical Disney leading lady living in a cottage, singing with innocent creatures, awaiting the day she would meet her prince charming.
However, when Prince Charming turns out to be Prince Edward (James Marsden) stepson of evil Queen Narissa our story begins. Once Queen Narissa hears of potential wedding bells between her stepson and Giselle she poses as an old lady pushing Princess Giselle into a well, transporting her to our world "modern day New York City".
While awaiting to be rescued by her Prince Edward, Giselle bonds with Robert (Patrick Dempsey), a divorce lawyer separated from his wife and trying to raise his daughter Morgan (Rachel Covey) by himself.
Alas when Giselle begins to fall in love with the charmingly flawed divorce lawyer who has come to her aid - even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince back home - she has to wonder: Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?
Enchanted is an inventive magical new age Disney tale brought to life by its clever wittiness and hilariously funny characters. Enchanted is like nothing any of us have seen before!
