"Walk Me Through"

A poem I wrote for my mom about my dad.
I will never forget the times we have shared.

From the day we walked down the isle.

You were always there for me and always will be.

Though death has done its part, you are still with me.

You have helped walk me through the impossible.

Through three wonderful children, times were hard.

Tough times lay ahead and I know you'll be right there with me.

To help me walk through the impossible yet again.

As birthdays and holidays pass without you by my side,

I will never forget what they were like with you.

I never thought I would be able to go on without you.

As I watched our children and grandchildren grow.

I tell them just how much you helped through the hard times.

How you did your best with what you knew.

Though our grandchildren won't know "you".

I'll share with them the stories of how you walked me through.

Not one day goes by that I don't think about you.

As those days go by, the pain eases just that much more.

When the day comes that the pain is gone,

That's the day I need you the most.

To help me walk right back into your arms.
