Walk 2 Dogs at Once Without any Trouble

Do you own more than 1 dog and have trouble when it comes to walks? Now you can easily enjoy both dogs company without being pulled in different directions.
Step 1: Train one at a time. Walk your dogs separately until you’ve been able to get them used to the idea of walking on a leash. You can also teach each one to heal while you are walking with them separately.

Step 2: Enlist the help of a friend. While you walk the more dominant dog, have your friend walk your other dog. The dogs should walk as closely as possible to help them get the idea of sharing space. The more dominant dog will probably pull out in front of the other dog, and that is fine. Use the opportunity to allow them to feel out the experience of being so close.

Step 3: Move to two leashes. Walk the dogs together, putting one leash in each hand. Practice healing, and sitting and staying at intersections. Walk with 2 leashes at first, one in each hand. If you feel the dogs are taking you on a walk, you might need to go back to walking one at a time until you are able to regain control of them independently.

Step 4: Practice patience. It’s highly likely that on the first few excursions out with both dogs, you will trip over them, they will trip over you and they will trip over each other. This is all to be expected. If you lose your cool, your dogs will feed off that negative energy. Remain calm and reiterate your expectations until they are met.

Step 5: Move to one leash. Once you are able to walk your dogs using the two leashes, it’s time to make it more convenient for you. Purchase a leash that has 2 extensions on the end. One side will attach to one dog, the other side will attach to the second dog. This is much more comfortable for you because you only have to hold onto one leash! Expect the dogs to trip over each other at first, but they’ll work it out!

Step 6: If all else fails…take both pups to obedience school and have a trainer help you to accomplish the task of walking both dogs at once.
