Wake Up Your Make-Up

It is important to feel groomed and getting into the habit of using make-up every day will help you do just that.
Where make up is concerned so many of us don’t bother because we think we don’t have time. Men find the time to shave every day so it’s not really an excuse that works, but as with everything, we need to get in the habit so it no longer feels like a chore. I wear my make up everyday - the full works! And I know it takes me exactly 6 minutes. A shorter time than my husband spends grappling with the razor!!

Once you’ve had your colors analyzed by a professional image consultancy you can see which make up colors are going to enhance your natural coloring. This ensures that you don’t look painted or false but finished, well groomed and natural. And this really boosts your confidence because people respond to you differently. If you look well, vibrant and alive people smile and want to connect with you.

Others of us don’t want to look false or made up! I agree, the wrong make up can look far too heavy and far from covering the blemishes, can make us look much older! But the right colors and application looks lovely, soft and flattering. Our skin looks smooth and our eyes sparkle. Come on girls that’s got to be good!!

Many of us who do habitually wear make up have been doing the same thing for the past 20 years and never change because when we do it looks different. It takes quite a while for our eyes to get used to change so we sometimes need a helping hand to give us the confidence to make that change. A Make Up Class is ideal. It’s the same if we get a tan in the summer. I’m often asked by my clients who understand the palette of colors that suit them ‘Do I still wear my same make up when I’ve got a tan?’

When we tan it tends to happen quickly and so we feel we look very different. The change is hard to get used to. It’s like having a drastic hair cut or color - you keep catching your reflection and thinking ‘Who’s that?’ Of course it does eventually settle and you do get used to the new you. It’s just the same with a bit of summer color on our skin. The person staring back at us after 2 weeks in the sun just doesn’t look the same.

With the make up, the colors that flatter your natural skin tone, eyes and hair will continue to do so when you have a tan. However when you’re on holiday is a great time to experiment with a new blusher or lip gloss. Keep it simple so you don’t have a lot to pack. Why not try a tinted moisturizer in place of your foundation ( you’ll need to go a shade deeper if you’ve got a tan) add a soft natural blusher on your cheek bones to give a hint of that healthy outdoorsy glow the airbrushed celebs do so well. A luscious lip gloss for day, and a pretty lipstick to pop underneath the gloss for the evening. Finish off with a soft eye pencil and some waterproof mascara. Lovely, natural, pretty and sexy without being overdone. So come on girls, whether you’re sensible and stay out of the sun protecting your skin or you’re a real sun worshiper - Wake Up your Make Up!!
