Wake Up Black Folks In Omaha

A poem about violence…
Wake up black folks in Omaha
rise up and face the truth
wipe your eyes and realize
the trials of your youth

Analyze the reasons why
this violence persists
then reminisce back to the days
when panthers raised their fists

Think back to times when white police
stopped black folks everyday
to violate their human rights
while justice looked the other way

Remember those brave chosen few
that stood and got shot down
and wonder why today we have
no one that stands their ground

White racists have a plan that they
follow relentlessly
divide and conquer us until
there is no you or me

Their plan includes a police chief
that's black and on the pad
romanced by opulence and praise
so much he can't see good from bad

Their plan involves the wealthy blacks
to move out of the hood
and settle in the middle class
where life is oh so good

Their plan is based on ignorance
your apathy,..their friend
these racist crakahs seek a day
when non-white life will end

Wake up black folks in Omaha
rise up and face the truth
wipe your eyes and realize
the trials of your youth
