Drills for Kids
For more accurate serves, passes, hits, and blocks, the following drills are just right. These drills not only help individual players to sharpen their skills, but also makes them understand the value of working in a team.
Drill #1 - This drill is great to perfect your serves. To begin, place as many cones as you can on all 4 sides of the court and divide the team into 2. Ask each player to hold a ball in their hands. With the balls, both teams get to knock down the cones on the other side. The only thing is that they have to serve and knock the cones down. Whichever team knocks all the cones down first, wins.
Drill #2 - If you feel that the team needs to toughen up defense to cover the other teams' hitters, then this drill is perfect. In a game set, have 6 players line up on 1 side. Here, on the court they will be considered as receivers. Take 2 players each in the 3 blocking zones, on the other side of the court, and they will be considered as blockers. The receivers will toss the ball on the other side and the blockers have to stop it. As there are more blockers now, the receivers will need to make sure that they cover the hitter properly.

Drill #1 - If you want to teach your players to control their emotions on the court and keep their eyes on winning each and every point, then this drill is great. Divide players in 2 teams of 6. Give 12 balls to each team and have them serve 2 balls at the same time. This serve will be played one team at a time. Don't have them all serve at once. It will only be chaotic on the court. So team 1 serves 2 balls, then team 2 serves 2 balls. Here, each team has to win every point and get every ball served to them. Whichever team has the maximum balls in their hands, wins.
Drill #2 - If you wish to improve the players' reflexes and accuracy, then this passing drill is perfect. One by one, each player will stand before the coach and the coach has to throw the ball to that player. With the same speed, the player passes the ball to a target area which you need to set beforehand. This drill can be done among 2 players as well.
