Visceral Fat Reduction

Visceral fat loss comes as much from having a healthy spirit as having a healthy body. Read to find out how we're hard on our bodies without even knowing it.
Junk food, a sedentary lifestyle and a negative attitude are the biggest stressors for your body that lead to visceral fat and obesity. Seldom do people realize that the unhealthiest of all places to have fat is around the old tum. It is often the case that people with a lot of visceral fat have high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and various kinds of heart disease. They experience fatigue soon, which furthermore makes them inclined toward being more and more lethargic. Every activity comes with so much of a force of exhaustion.

So, how to get rid of visceral fat? Before you know of getting rid of visceral fat, you must understand what is it that really is making you fat. Lots of articles suggest exercising, going on a steady diet of nothing but raw vegetables or about the compulsive overeating disorder that you might have, and what to do in order to lose belly fat. This is perfectly right. But, for visceral fat reduction, what I'm most concerned about is the basis of a very subtle, hence overlooked factor, related to the mechanisms of your body and how your body responds to foods of a certain nature that make you feel and look worse than you expected.

A Bit on Foods - Trick or Treat?

What is it that is preventing visceral fat loss? When you eat, your body responds by secreting hormones after sending your brain a message from your mouth, stomach, intestines and liver to suggest that it doesn't require any more food. If this wouldn't happen, we would go on eating forever. If your body didn't get all the energy it required during the meal you just ate, it will eat more the next time you're hungry to compensate for the last one. It is a natural mechanism for the body to do this to ensure that you can function optimally. When you go on a diet and deprive yourself of food, your body will automatically induce you into eating more when you eat.

Junk foods are low-energy foods which your body cannot digest quickly and store as fat and visceral fat, clogging up your digestive system and make your body feel like it lacks energy and crave for more again. Usually, you start craving for refined sugar, caffeine, chocolates and other foods with a lot of sugar content which give you a sudden spurt of energy, raising the blood sugar level for a short while and then disappearing. This makes you ravenous- hungry, exhausted, low and craving for more. These are just empty calories that go on being stored as fat. So, a diet where you deprive yourself of basic nutrients isn't helpful for visceral fat loss. This uppy-downy ride is bound to make you depressed and then induce you to overeat. This, most certainly, goes entirely against your goal of visceral fat reduction. Binge-eating is bad, particularly binge-eating at night. It is often connected to depression or a reaction to anxiety or stress.

What to Avoid?
Processed foods or canned foods, refined sugar, white flour and anything made from these aren't good for your body. There is absolutely no nutrition in white flour and it contains only empty calories. No matter what different brands advertise, what companies sell you as dietary artificial sweeteners, diet drinks or sugar-free products are capable of changing your brain's chemistry and you probably end up eating more of these foods than usual which eventually make you obese. Your brain is tricked into thinking that it is "safe" for you to eat these foods as they're low-fat or sugar-free and you end up consuming three times the amount of calories you normally would. When your body consumes artificial sweeteners, your taste-buds send a signal to the pancreas for making insulin. The pancreas secrete the insulin that goes about the body to find sugar which it doesn't, of course, and removes the existing sugar from your body. Thus, your blood sugar levels are lowered below the normal amount and you feel depressed all the more; your body starts screaming "hunger" again.

What to Eat?
Opt for honey when your body craves for sugar. Don't go on some sort of silly fad diet, because these usually make you feel deprived. And when the occasional craving comes, it lugs you into eating something that is absolutely high in sugars and fats! For instance, a quick unhealthy meal at McDonald's or KFC. Instead of opting for a spread that is supposedly low-fat or margarine, refined oils, donuts, pastries and cakes, deep-fried foods, make yourself something with fresh organic vegetables and use olive oil, fresh butter or sesame oil or linseed oil (cold-pressed). Have the right balance of carbohydrates, fats and protein in your meals! Eating healthy, timely meals in proper proportions slowly works wonders. Start including a lot of fresh fruits and raw vegetables, salads and nuts, and sea-food. Avoid red meats, opt for fish instead. Foods that are aplenty in omega-6 fatty acids are good for your body and brain. Not all saturated fat is bad for you. It is only saturated fat which doesn't come from natural sources. As you know your body needs a certain amount of fat for various things such as insulation that prevents heat loss from your body in order to keep you warm and cushioning the bones for efficient movement.

Eat and Reduce Visceral Fat!
There are several foods that would help you with reducing visceral fat in your body. For instance, almonds are high in protein, help give an impetus to your metabolism and keep you full for a longer time. Turmeric assists the body in making some essential digestive enzymes that break down fats. Sweet potatoes are high in fiber and carotenoids that stabilize blood sugar and eventually reduce your cravings for more food. Vitamin D affects the metabolism of fat. If you eat foods that are rich in calcium such as milk, yogurt, broccoli, green beans, okra, sardines, tofu, spinach and almonds, they would certainly help with metabolizing visceral fat. Oranges and grapefruits contain flavonoids that help reducing fat around the waist. Cinnamon has been found out to help reduce soaring blood sugar levels. These are some foods that burn belly fat.

Women who aren't too physically active throughout the day and are over 31 years of age need about 2,000 calories each day. Out of which, there should be less than 16 g saturated fat, less than 2 g trans fat and between and about 50 to 70 grams of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. The body does need saturated fats to a certain extent - but getting them from the right natural sources is beneficial.

Lazy to the Marrow of Your Bone?

How to lose visceral fat if you're a couch potato? It can be initially difficult for people who are used to the taking the elevator to the stairs, or driving a car even if the place they want to get to is around the corner, or sitting in one place or in front of the blaring telly/computer with a bag of crisps for long, long hours. We have made every invention seem as though it were, but a step closer to laziness. Sedentary lifestyle effects aren't the most beneficial. The more you move, the more sugar you burn; otherwise, your body just ends up storing it and eventually you pile on the pounds. Have you noticed that after a frenzy of physical activity or exercise, you feel a rush? This is because the moment your body is stirred into action, your pituitary gland and hypothalamus release a chemical called endorphins. These make you feel more active and give you a feeling of well-being.

So, the more sluggish you are, the more depressed you feel and the more depressed you feel, the more you tend to eat. And the more you eat, the fatter you get. So stir yourself into action! Always opt for stairs instead of elevators unless you have to go up to a dizzying 20th level or so. Walk or ride a bicycle to places that are close by instead of sitting behind the steering wheel. Sitting too much is horrid for your back and posture. Even if it is doing simple daily chores - like washing dishes or mowing your lawn, you do burn visceral fat. A woman with 20% body fat is able to give her the energy to function for a whole month, but not much can be said about the functioning of her brain at an optimum level. There are several abdominal exercises and various crunches that would help you with visceral fat loss.

Last, but not the least develop a cheerful attitude. Laugh, love, dance and have a sense of humor about everything. Nothing in life is ever so serious. Be gentle on yourself and let not negative moods drag you too astray. It's up to you how far and how low you choose to go with them. Yoga and aerobic exercises do wonders for the body and mind. Thus, they both help with visceral fat reduction. Start exercising and get enough sleep. Wanting to be healthy is the beginning of being healthy and the rest follows then.
