To help you out a little, here are a few Vinyl fence installation tips.

Instructions to install a Vinyl Fence
  • Sort out the materials required and the common tools, which you already have, and a make a separate list of the tools that you do not have.
  • Do consider the climate in which you are trying to install the fence since in winter season the ground is cold and frozen. So there are two common mistakes that can be made, one is that you might not sink the post below the frost depth and second can be that you might dig the posthole smaller than the diameter of the top.
  • Try and make the fence posthole bigger than the bottom of the top so that you can fill it up with concrete so that both the frost and the concrete can work together and hold the post in the ground.
  • Picket the fence line from the beginning to the end, which should be in line with the corners and the gates.
  • To define the line along which line posts can be laid, a string has to be tied tightly between the corner post locations.
  • The panels have to be measured to stake out the line post locations. To ensure that they are on the same line you can measure on center from each corner post on the lay out lines.
  • Each and every post location has to be marked with a stake and it also has to be ensured that the stakes are actually along the lay out lines, touching the lay out string which will help the posts to be in one line. Also wherever there is a gate or a gap due to any such reason that has to be taken into account.
  • Then start digging postholes, the depth of which would depend on soil conditions of the area. Generally at least one third of the post is dug in the ground so it is better to follow that as a basic rule.
  • The hole has to be dug deeper so that it allows room for the gravel fill before the hole is filled with concrete.
  • Ensure the height of the fence panels before the postholes are dug. Fill each hole with around six inch of gravel to drain out the excess water that might weaken the hold of the post
  • After the gravel is added, the concrete can also be added and after the concrete is set, the hollow post can be tapped into the hole and then concrete can be filled into the room left.
  • The corner and main posts should be installed first so that you get a reference to install the other posts at the right points.
  • After the posts are installed you can attach the rail brackets and rail hangers according to the manufacturer’s instruction.
So here is your fence all installed but then before you start the installation do check with adjoining property holders regarding the extent of space that you can use and other related details. Like wise gates can also be installed which is easier since for vinyl gates only two posts have to be dug. When installing PVC fencing be sure of the type of fence that you are installing like it can be Vinyl Privacy fencing, Picket fencing or Shadowbox fencing. The Privacy fencing is foolproof barrier that is commonly used around swimming pools, picket fence is for defining barriers for children and pets and Shadowbox is to give the fence the same look on both the sides. You can use these tips to install the PVC fencing and I am sure you would avoid most of the hassles.
