There are some common types of damage that the vertical blinds often suffer. The vanes, particularly the plastic ones get broken at the point where it is attached to a clip. Sometimes, one or more of the clips are broken. The small weight at the end of the vanes may also get detached. The major problem arises when there is some damage in the head rail, as then the vanes cannot be moved at all. In this section we will talk about the repair parts for vertical blinds. Repair of vertical blinds involve replacement of the vertical blinds repair parts with new ones.

Repair of the Vanes
When a vane of the vertical blinds is torn, it needs to be replaced by a new one. For this, the damaged vane needs to be taken out from the rail. Move the vane slightly in the upward direction and turn it a bit so that it comes off the holder, and then pull it out. If the vane is held by a clip which is attached to a string, then you have to take the vane out of the clip first. Then you have to take out the chain not only from the damaged vane but also from all those vanes which lie in between that vane and the chain anchor point.

Take the new replacement vane and move it into the holder or the clip. While you install the new vane, care should be taken that the orientation of the vane should be same as the other vanes. If you find it difficult to push in the the vane into the clip, you can use a screw driver to exert some extra pressure. Do not put too much of pressure as that may lead to breakage of the clip, as most of the time it is made of plastic. Finally, pass the chain through the replaced vane and other adjacent vanes from which it was removed.

If the vane is made of fabric, then the torn part can be mended by needle and thread. If there is a tear near the hole where the vane is attached to the clip of the rail, the vane will fall down. To repair that tear, just cut a small piece of the vane from the lower end of the vane and past it with glue on the torn joint. Make sure that the portion you have cut should not cover up the hole. Hold the repaired area in between your fingers till the two piece bond well with each other. Now you can put it back to its position in the rail.

Repair of the Head Rail

Therefore, you should touch the head rail for any kind of repair only if the warranty period of the vertical blind is over. For this, firstly remove all the vanes one by one. When you are taking out the chain, pay careful attention to find out how it was set with the head rail. This will help you when you will be installing the new one. Once you have installed the chain, you have to attach all the vanes in the same alignment. For repairing any other component like holder or the veins of the head rail, you should hire a professional as these tasks require a very skilled pair of hands.
