Variety
No human being like another, plus the great variety of plants, fish and animals...indeed, a lot to choose from, but why? What's the purpose in all this variety? God wants us to see His Hand in it and thank Him for it.
Our Creator designed earth and everything on it, and we can see one basic similarity between what our Lord made and what man makes: variety. It is not exactly in God's nature to make every single tree or leaf the same way, with the same design, it is not in God's nature to make every bird the exactly same shape and color...oh, no God made everything different in unlimited variety and every single one of those things has a purpose.
If we look at the world as we know it, we can find two types of variety: (1) variety within the kind and (2) variety among the kinds. Humans are a great example of the first type, every person is unique and there is not another person on earth that is exactly like us, and at the same time, you can call yourself a human being. God has shown His wonderful and infinite variety in us for a very good reason.
We can find other types of examples for this variety in the rest of creation as well...just take a look at the birds. Take a look at the Sparrow, there are so many different varieties in the sparrow world, each a little bit different than the other and at the same time so much alike! All sparrows have little brown bodies with streaked backs, they all eat seeds close to the ground and you will most likely always find them in flocks...the truth is they can all greatly act apart and individual when it comes to their singing and nesting and basic movement. Different types of Sparrows can also have a wide range of colors on their backs, but do you know what, all these sparrows came to be from the few that were taken into Noah's ark at the great World Wide Flood: they all represent a single kind.
The sparrows that left the Ark had the genes to produce the amazing variety that we know today, and despite this variety we will always be able to tell that a sparrow is a sparrow, a sparrow will never become a horse or a lizard.
We can also find examples of the second type of variety in the bird world. Look at all the different types of birds that are in our world today, eagles, chickens, doves, turkeys, blue jays and pheasants, when the overall aspect of their design is taken into consideration we find that they are all different, but when we look at their basic design we find so many similarities, and yet they all produce after their own kind, an eagle will never become a chicken, a dove will never become a turkey and a blue jay will never become a pheasant.
So you might be saying, "Ok, God made great variety in the world, but why? Why is there so much variety?" the answer is very simple, so God can be glorified. The Bible tells us that "the Heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork" (Psalm 19:1). God made the great variety in design to also teach man about God, every living creature declares the glory of God....another verse says that if man will not speak then the rocks themselves will cry out to God.
The one thing in creation that does not bring glory to God is man, many times not even the Christians of this world bring God the glory and honor that He deserves...it is time to stop thinking about ourselves and to start to fulfill the very reason that God put us on this earth to begin with: to bring praise to Him. He surely deserves it!
