  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups (4 sticks) unsalted butter (softened)
Directions

Take a medium-sized saucepan, add all-purpose flour, milk and whisk for 5 minutes to make a smooth paste. Put it over a medium heat and cook till the mixture starts bubbling. Stir constantly and allow to thicken for 10 - 15 minutes. Keep this aside and allow to cool down. In a large bowl, add soften butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat this mixture and pour in the electric mixture. Process the mixture till it is smooth and fluffy. Check whether the flour and milk mixture is cooled or not. If yes, add it into the mixer and beat for another 5 minutes at a high speed. Turn off mixer and by this time, you will get a thick frosting. Cover lid and refrigerate for 15 minutes. It is best to use immediately after chilling. Besides decorating cupcakes, you can use this thick-textured vanilla frosting for cookies as well.
