Vampire Wedding Ch 6 Rewrite
Anna's decision.
Meghan’s POV……….
As Meghan grudgingly packed her suitcase she grumbled to herself about Ryan.
"He’s rude, disrespectful, and has no consideration for others. Why can’t he just go get another girl to be his wife? I’m sure he has no problems finding women. All he has to do is go to the nearest girl and say look it look say ‘I need a wife, you want to be her? Did I mention I’m rich?’ then live happily ever after, but noooo. He has to be so difficult."
Meghan continued to grumble as she folded one of her favorite shirts and put it into the suit case. She was mumbling and grumbling so much that she didn’t hear her mother come into her room.
"Meghan?" even though her voice was quiet and timid she still scared Meghan and caused her to jump in surprise.
When Meghan saw that it was her mother she breathed a sigh of relief and put her hand over her racing heart.
"Jesus, mom, you scared me." She let out a nervous giggle. She hoped that her mother didn’t hear her talking about Ryan.
Her mother smiled, but Meghan became nervous when she noticed that the smile was half-heated and didn’t reach her mother’s eyes.
Meghan watched Anna walk over to a pile of cloths that Meghan had stacked up to take with her and started folding. She didn’t know for what, but Meghan knew that her mother was stalling.
Meghan and her mother folded and packed her clothes in silence. She was still upset that her mother would keep such big secrets from her, but she was no longer angry. As she thought about what her life would be when she went with Ryan she became a little nervous. She didn’t know these people and wouldn’t know what to do. Her mother did, though, and she would help her.
"Meghan?"
"Yeah?" she responded not looking up. She was focusing on folding a t-shirt.
"We have to talk?" Uh oh. Meghan didn’t like the tone her mother was using. It was the same tone Jeff used right after she caught him with her best friend and right before he dumped her.
Meghan stopped cold. The pair of pants she was folding lay forgotten and half folded on top of the clothes that still needed to be packed.
"About what, Mama?" Anna looked down at her tightly clasped hands and looked back up at Meghan before patting the space on the bed next to her.
"Come sit next to me, sweetheart."
Meghan sat next to her and said, "Mama, you’re scaring me." Meghan didn’t know how, but inside she knew what was going to be said by her mother.
"I- I can’t go with you…Meghan." Meghan’s breath hitched in her throat. Her throat began to ache from the urge to cry.
She shot up from her spot next to her mother and asked, "What do you mean you can’t go with me?"
"Honey, it’s just that I left that life along time ago and I don’t think that I would be welcomed back."
Anna gave the same excuse to Meghan that she gave to Ryan and she got pretty much the same response.
"Bull shit! That’s some freaking bull shit." Meghan’s heart was braking and it was the worst thing that she had felt so far in her life. It was worst then finding her boyfriend and friend together in bed. Hell it was even worst then her puppy dying when she was ten. She never knew that her mother would cause her this much pain.
Meghan whirled around so that she wasn’t facing her mother anymore. She was gasping for breath because the pain in her chest was preventing her from breathing.
"I can’t go back!" Anna exclaimed. "It was horrible what they did to him. I loved Lyson with all my heart and they took him away."
Meghan heard the springs of her bed squeak as her mother got up. "Don’t you see, Meghan? I can’t do it." Anna tried to touch Meghan, but when she did Meghan jerked away from her.
"Meghan, I-" Meghan cut her off.
"No!" she yelled.
For awhile neither of the two women spoke. Meghan calmed down took a deep breath. Meghan could feel her mother’s eyes on her as she walked back over to the bed and finished folding and packing her stuff.
She was surprisingly calm.
Anna’s POV…………….
Anna watched her daughter calm herself down before she calmly started to pack her things. She hated that she had hurt her daughter, but Meghan just didn’t understand what she had went through.
She couldn’t go back. She just couldn’t!
"So, what now?" Meghan’s voice was devoid of any emotion. It also startled Anna because after a long while of silence she wasn’t expecting anyone to talk.
Anna didn’t know if she should try to explain again. When she really thought about it she realized that Meghan wouldn’t care to hear any of her explanations so she just answered Meghan’s question with a deflated heart.
"Now you go back with Ryan and finish what your father and I intended to do in the first place."
Meghan’s back was still to her, but she nodded.
"You know. If it weren’t for my dead father I would leave you, Klayton and Ryan here."
Meghan zipped up her suitcase and picked it up off the bed. Anna watched her carry it to the door way then she stopped and without looking back she said, "Goodbye….Anna." and left.
With tears streaming down her face and a heavy heart she sunk down to her knees and cried. She loved her daughter, but she was too scared to go back. She was just too scared.
Ryan’s POV…….
Ryan was left alone with Klayton while Anna went upstairs to talk to Meghan. There was a tense silence between the two men.
Ryan’s advanced hearing allowed him to listen in on a couple of things that they were saying. He closed his eyes as he heard Meghan reject Anna’s excuse. He shook his head and reopened his eyes. God, they’re weak, he thought.
"I know you don’t believe us, but we have our reasons." Klayton finally spoke.
Ryan turned in faced him and gave a sardonic chuckle. "Sure you do." Ryan shook his head again before saying, "Do you know that your people are hurting as well?"
He watched Klayton lower his head in shame. He hoped for Meghan’s sake that he was getting through to the man.
"They’re not our people anymore." Klayton answered quietly.
Fed up Ryan flew to Klayton. Since he was mortal now his eyes couldn’t keep up with the speed at which Ryan had run.
"They are your people." Ryan was inches away from his face. "They were there as well when Lyson died. Now they are suffering at the hands of people who don’t give a damn about them."
Ryan straightened up and crossed his arms. "Meghan will be leaving with me regardless of how much you beg me or plead me not to take her, because unlike you. I care for my people."
Ryan felt his beast growl inside him. He wanted desperately to slay this weak creature for not taking responsibility. His beast did not like cowards.
He shall be an easy feat, his beast bragged. Let us get rid of him now. He has caused pain to our mate. That will not be tolerated. Ryan felt him trying to immerge. He felt his fangs began to grow and his eyes start to darken. He felt his muscles enhance.
NO! he yelled at his beast. He paced back and forth trying to calm himself down. He was not here to hunt or slay.
Ryan let out a relieved sigh when he heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Klayton stood up and Ryan turned to face the staircase just in time to see Meghan
come down the last step with her suitcase. Her eyes were puffy from crying previously, but now they were completely dry.
When she turned to face the two men Ryan hissed before he could hold it in. His beast wanted desperately to take vengeance on those who hurt his mate, but Ryan on the other hand didn’t want her to be his mate. He wasn’t ready.
"Are you ready to go?" Ryan asked her.
Meghan nodded and walked straight out the door. He looked back at Klayton and gave him a look that said, "Are you satisfied now?"
Ryan followed her out of the house and to his car. He watched her walk and noticed the sway of her hips. He licked his lips appreciatively, but then chastised himself for thinking such things when she was clearly upset.
He unlocked the car doors and said, "Just put your suitcase in the back." He opened the door for her and watched her bend over to put the case in. He had to admit she had a nice backside. He groaned in frustration. She was clearly hurting judging by the way her face was blank and void of any emotion and the fact that she wasn’t talking.
All that chastising went out the window when she straightened and accidentally brushed against him. Her scent made his other half go crazy and him.
He didn’t know how he was going to get through this.
As Meghan grudgingly packed her suitcase she grumbled to herself about Ryan.
