Centrally located in the Rocky Mountain region, midway between Canada and Mexico, Utah is bordered by Wyoming on the northeast, Colorado on the east, Arizona on the south, Nevada on the west, and Idaho on the north. Utah is the 13th-largest state and the third highest, with an average elevation of 6,100 feet. Except for a projection of Wyoming into its northeastern corner, Utah would be rectangular in shape.
