Using a Scrapbook In Your Blind and Shade Business
Learn how a scrapbook in your blind and shade business can assist your customers is making their purchases.
I remember my incredible frustration when I ordered blinds for my last home. The first question asked was did I want something vertical or horizontal. While the question seems simple enough, I do not have a visual mind, so trying to picture the differences in my mind was very difficult.
I finally made my purchase from a company that had tons of photos to show me. Vertical for a sliding glass door in a family room is very different than vertical in a bedroom. It was through the photos that I decided to put horizontal blinds in the both the bedrooms and the kitchen, and vertical blinds in the family room.
Next were the wood choices for the dining room. I knew I wanted wood, but I was not sure if I wanted light wood, or dark wood, if I wanted thin pieces or thicker pieces. It’s very hard to visualize 1 inch or 3 inches. Again, seeing photos helped make that decision. Did I want shutters, or did I want blinds?
Taking photos of jobs you’ve done takes only 3 minutes of your time. Create a few different scrapbooks that show how the various blinds and shades hang. What do they look like closed, and what do they look like opened?
What is the difference between a roller shade and a pleated shade? Photos can make the difference of a customer saying "I need time to consider", or "I just love it, that’s what I want".
Some folks are quite happy to meet with a salesperson, other people prefer shopping online. Create both hand held scrapbooks and online scrapbooks to accommodate every potential customer. The more photos you have for customers to look at, the more decisions your customers will be able to make.
