Using Hybrids Yet?

If you aren't using hybrids yet, it's time to look into putting a couple of them into your bag. However, don't limit yourself to using these wonderful clubs just for longer full-swing shots.

Hybrid clubs have become all the rage in golf today. In the past couple of years many tour pros have put away their egos and now carry a hybrid or two in their bag. One of the most vocal advocates for hybrids is the 3rd ranked player in the world - Jim Furyk.

If you haven't seriously played with hybrids yet - it's time to start. They are one of the most versatile clubs that you can add to your arsenal. From tee to green - the shotmaking possibilities are almost endless. In fact, one of the best uses for a hybrid are those little bump-and-run shots from the fringe. Hit a hybid with a putting stroke and you will leave yourself with many more 1-putts than you ever have with a wedge.

With a little practice it will shave strokes off your game. In fact, this is the very type of shot that greatly helped Todd Hamilton win the 2004 British Open at Royal Troon. Another great use for hybrids are knock-down shots on windy days. The ease with which you can hit the ball with a hybrid makes these types of shots wonderfully easy to execute when compared to using an iron.

Don't limit yourself and just use a particular club for it's intended purpose - especially the hybids. Think outside the box and practice some different shots at the range and on the course.

Get creative and have some fun!
