Using Direct Mailing To Market To Your Existing Clients

Direct mail can be very effective for professionals and service companies. Here are some tips to get the most effect.
A direct marketing mailing method was used by me when a business problem arose some years ago. I was not aware of what this term meant, but being a business man I naturally knew what it was. I had to do something quickly and this was an excellent way to reach the people I needed to respond. With the help of one letter I got clients who paid me hundreds of thousands of dollars over the following years.

I believe that the most efficient method of advertising is direct marketing. It works well for the small business. There are five basic steps that will make your campaign successful. First, find the audience that will be interested in your product or service and market to them. Second, convey to that audience why they need your product or skill and assure this market that they will benefit by using your product. Next, communicate to your market how you will answer their questions, problems and concerns. Fourth, let your audience know that they will profit from using your services immediately. Finally, offer concise instructions on what steps the customer must take to begin to profit quickly from what you have to offer.

Most business people who are aware of direct marketing think of it in terms of long hype filled letters that they have received to but some particular product or service. However, not all direct mail is like that. Direct response mailing for professionals needs to be considerably more! well professional in it's presentation. In my opinion the most lucrative use of direct mail is for businesses that can use it to pull in customers or clients who will use their services over and over again.

The most commonly found form of direct mailing is business to consumer. However, business to business (B2B) is more often thought of as being a far more valuable form of contact. Mailing directly to your consumers can often lead to a quick sale, but a business to business relationship engenders a more long term relationship between you and your customers that is likely to lead to more repeat sales and loyal clients. Your mailing may not result in a quick sale, but in building your long term client list, which is going to be much more lucrative and profitable in the future.
