Using Curtains As Window Treatments Has Never Been Easier!

Curtains have long been a popular way to add appeal to a room while blocking the view of people on the outside. There are many lovely styles, colors, and textures to choose from that are also functional in covering up windows which are beginning to not look as nice as they once did.

One of the most desired curtain styles is a box-pleated curtain. This type of curtain, which is made of pre-pleated fabric, will give a neat, tailored look to your room. Because of the work involved in making them, they are a bit more costly than simpler styles, but they will also add an extra-special quality to your windows.

Valances are another commonly-used window treatment. Valances are made of fabric and hang over the top quarter of the window. Most people use valances in conjunction with some type of window blinds to give themselves privacy. Styles of valances can range from just short, unadorned pieces of fabric to ruffled delights or airy sheers.

Blackout curtains are available for those who, because of night jobs, need to sleep during the daylight hours. As their name says, blackout curtains are made of thicker fabrics with linings to block all bothersome light except for the tiny cracks around the edges.

If you’re thinking green these days and want curtains that will help you save energy, you need to consider thermal curtains. These curtains keep out the sun and heat in the summer and the cold in the winter allowing you to keep your home at a more even temperature without turning the thermostat up or down. The cooled or warmed air in your house is also unable to leave your house through the windows which makes your home much more energy-efficient.

Both thermal and blackout curtains have properties which allow them to block outside noises from coming into your home. If you live on a really busy street, near a railroad, or in a neighborhood with a lot of children playing outside, you may have trouble if you need to sleep during the day. By using either of these types of curtains you’ll be able to block both annoying light and sounds so you can sleep like a baby.

Café curtains are probably what you remember blowing in the breeze by your grandma’s kitchen windows. These simple curtains are made of light, bright fabrics, many of which have kitchen-related motifs. You use double rods. The valance part of the curtain is hung from one rod at the top of the window, and the curtain part hangs from a rod secured to the middle bar of the window.

It doesn’t matter what type of window treatments you choose. As long as you’re happy with them and like the way they look, that’s what counts.
