Username Ideas

With overpopulation on the Internet, people have to come up with original username ideas because so many of them are already taken! So what would you use as your username on your email id? Here are some username ideas.
What is a username? When you want to become a member of a social networking website like Facebook or MySpace, it needs a unique identification name for you so that the website knows who is accessing it and which account to redirect that person to. This is part of Internet privacy. Simple enough. When you register yourself for the first time on the website with the username of your choice, the website looks into its database to check if there is another person with the same name. And if there is, it asks you to put in a different name. This Internet security approach on the part of the website is correct, because if there was only one username, and two people working with it, the website would not know where to redirect whom. Hence the website always demands a unique username.

Need for Username Ideas
But unfortunately, you are not the only one with the same name as yours in the world or on the Internet! A man named 'John Smith' would have a hell of a time trying to get his username registered on any website. Perhaps it is fine for people who have very cultural, unique names or surnames to get their username registered on some websites, but for others, you have to look for newer username ideas.

Then there are others who are not quite fond of their names, and want to come up with something cooler. Hence they are on the lookout for username ideas which sound more hip, and feel are more unique or personal and comfortable as compared to their actual names. This is especially true for people looking for username ideas for online dating sites as they want a slightly more marketable name. Hence people look for username ideas. Some interesting usernames for dating websites could be:
  • waiting4the1@sitename.com
  • looking4luv@sitename.com
  • single2mingle@sitename.com
  • loveme4areason@sitename.com
Most Common Username Ideas
The first choice can be your own name. If not, you could add a number at the end of it, your birth date, or your favorite number or the year in which you are creating your email account. You could also add your surname first and then your name. You can shorten your name or add an underscore (_) between your name and surname. Another cool username idea is to use your nickname or what your friends call you. You could also write the name of your favorite celebrity, car, game, sports club at the end of it.

Username Ideas for Girls
Let me classify this article into different sets of usernames for girls and boys, as same ideas won't work for both! Mostly girls prefer romantic and feminine usernames on dating sites. I would personally discourage emo and dark names as it may turn boys or other girls off at times. Suppose your name is Jennifer Smith, born on 23rd March, 1989, here's some username ideas list for you. Based on the examples used in this list, you could come up with names of your own.
  • jennifersmith@sitename.com
  • jennifer230389@sitename.com
  • jennifersmith2009@sitename.com
  • jenny4u@sitename.com
  • jennifer_smith@sitename.com
  • sweetlikesugar_2009@sitename.com
  • cottoncandy_xoxoxo@sitename.com
  • ilovenyc_jenny@sitename.com
  • lovetoloveyou@sitename.com
  • jenny_cute@sitename.com
Username Ideas for Boys
Boys usually prefer more macho names or names of celebrities in their username. It can be seen that most username ideas generated by boys are related to their loyalties, whether it is their favorite sports club, their favorite sportsperson, their favorite movies, celebrities, etc. There are also some boys who pick lewd, double entendre and risque names, but I'll discourage those as they may seem rude or chauvinistic. So if your name is Aaron Cooper, born on 31st October, 1985 and a Lakers fan, here's a list of username ideas for you.
  • aaroncooper@sitename.com
  • aaron_lakers@sitename.com
  • lakersfan_1985@sitename.com
  • aaron311085@sitename.com
  • kobebryantthebest@sitename.com
  • threepointer_aaron@sitename.com
  • aaroncooper_slamdunk@sitename.com
  • aaron_basketball31.10@sitename.com
  • aaroncooper4u@sitename.com
  • ferrari_aaron@sitename.com (if Ferrari is your favorite car-maker!)
