US Open 2010 Begins Today

The US Open 2010, the last of the 4 Grand Slams of the year, is all set to make an exciting start later today, and day one action features many of the seeds playing...
Rafael Nadal, the man who has been trying to conquer the hard courts of the US Open for almost eight years now, is the top seed at the US Open 2010. Having won all the other Grand Slams at least once, his eyes are now on the Flushing Meadows title, and should he add it to his resume, he will also have completed his Career Grand Slam. Though his past record is not that great at the US Open (he has failed to get past the semis), this year might be the year that he changes that. Back-to-back Grand Slam wins at the French Open and the Wimbledon means that the World Number 1 is sky high on confidence, and indeed this might be his best chance for his first US Open title. However, there are others who have equally good chances to win the US Open 2010 and these come in the form of Andy Murray, Robin Soderling and Tomas Berdych. Andy Roddick and Novak Djokovic have also proven that they are not to be written off, and with this being the home Grand Slam for Roddick, his chances of a title here are high too. All this is, of course, without taking into account the 5 time US Open Champion, Roger Federer. The former world number one is looking for his 6th title in 7 years, and from the way he has been playing in the warm up tournaments, he might very well get it.

Fortunately for Federer, his part of the US Open 2010 draw is not that difficult to get through, and if he plays to his potential, his only obstacle should come in the form of the number 5 seed, Robin Soderling. Nadal might have to play a little harder to come through, but with the way he has been playing lately, he should make it to the semis this time round too. With all the top ten seeds playing incredible tennis lately, the US Open is going to be a treat for tennis fans to watch. On day 1, let's take a quick look at the seeds that going to grace the courts with their presence.

As you can see, a huge number of seeds will take to the courts on the opening day of the US Open 2010, and we hope that there are no major upsets on the first day itself. In the men's event there are a couple of matches to keep your eye on, and these include the Federer match, the Roddick match, the Soderling match, and the Davydenko match. However, in my opinion the Hewitt-Mathieu matchup should be the most interesting match in the men's event, barring any upsets. In the women's event, Venus Williams, Kim Clijsters, Samantha Stosur and Francesca Schiavone are the ones to keep your eye on.

Lots of tennis action coming your way from the US Open 2010, as usual, stay tuned!
