Upset Stomach Causes
Many people may experience upset stomach after eating heavy foods, because they are difficult to digest. Eating too much of food can also result in upset stomach. Mostly, the above two causes gives rise to mild stomach pain. In some cases, stress might also be one of the leading upset stomach causes. If you've consumed heavy food and not taken proper sleep, then it might lead to upset stomach. Consumption of poisonous food, might also be a reason for it. In severe cases, stomach cancer, stomach ulcers and stomach flu might also be causes of stomach ache. Irritable bowel syndrome can also cause upset stomach.
Upset Stomach Remedies
Peppermint tea is a beneficial remedy, as it calms the stomach muscles and hence, is one of the good upset stomach cures. Chamomile and ginger are also other upset stomach remedy. The latter helps in digestion and in easing diarrhea. Hence, chewing a piece of candied ginger used for relieving stomach ache. Ginger ale helps in calming upset stomach and hence, can be used for upset stomach treatment. Add ½ tablespoon of baking soda to ½ glass of water, stir it well and drink it after every two hours, till the upset stomach is relieved. Bananas are also known to soothe the upset stomach. Foods for Upset Stomach
Fruits, soups, etc. are the right foods for upset stomach. Make sure you do not consume heavy foods, which will add more to the upset stomach. You can drink buttermilk, lime juice or juices of different fruits. Different soups can also be consumed, while suffering from upset stomach. These foods can be digested easily and hence, can be eaten during upset stomach. Soft and plain rice can also be eaten. Along with all this, drink lots of water. Water helps in flushing out toxins hence, one should drink lots of water. Make sure that you eat food in small amounts, after small and regular intervals of time. Along with all this, relaxation is also a must. Have a warm bath and sleep for some time, without thinking about anything. People suffering from upset stomach should avoid cigarettes, tobacco and alcohol, as these are known to exacerbate upset stomach. Also, foods which increase the pain should be avoided. Some of these kinds of food are onions, coffee, milk, chocolate, fried foods, baked beans, cauliflower, etc. So, in order to avoid upset stomach, consuming healthy food is a must!
