Upcoming Sprint Phones in 2012

If you are a Sprint customer and are looking for an upgrade, then this article can help you with some information on what you can expect from Sprint this year. Sprint may not have a wide range of devices as compared to arch-rivals AT&T and Verizon, but it has ensured that their range is competitive. Let us check out some of the upcoming Sprint phones 2012.
Sprint which has around 60 million subscribers promises to bring some latest devices to its network in 2012. If you are due for an upgrade, make sure that you know a good deal about what to expect from Sprint this year. Sprint will definitely want to expand its customer base to the likes of AT&T and Verizon. To do that, it needs to ensure that it has got the required arsenal to compete in this cellular war. With recent reports suggesting an increase in the smartphone penetration in the U.S. market, Sprint too is expected to bring some great devices on board. Let us take a look at some highly-anticipated Sprint phones in 2011.

Upcoming Sprint Phones

LG Viper
LG Viper will run on the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and it is believed to be one of the first devices in the LTE range that Sprint is bringing to its users. The device won't support GSM networks and this can give Sprint an edge in the market. The specifications of this device are:
  • Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor
  • 5 MP camera with autofocus and Geo-tagging
  • Bluetooth & Wi-Fi
  • 4" display
  • 512 RAM and external memory expandable up to 32 GB
  • NFC enabled
  • HD recording (720p)
Samsung Galaxy Nexus CDMA
This phone is already available on Verizon, but Sprint customers need to wait a little more before they can lay their hands on this phone. A 4.65" Super AMOLED display and the much-hyped LTE technology are some things to look out for in this phone. Specifications of this device are:
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core processor
  • 5 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi hotspot & NFC
  • 4.65" Super AMOLED screen
  • 1 GB RAM and 32 GB in-built memory
Kyocera DuraPlus
Sprint has been always known to cater to the needs of budget-customers and keeping this is mind, Sprint will get Kyocera DuraPlus on board this year. The phone takes from where the DuraCore left and packs in some useful features like GPS navigation and voice control. Other key specifications of this phone are
  • 2" QVGA screen
  • 128 MB RAM
  • Bluetooth and micro-USB
  • Java 2.1
  • Assisted GPS
Two other phones that are believed to be heading to Sprint are ZTE N860 and ZTE V55. Both these phones would run on Android platform, but there is no information on their specifications as of now.

As you can see above, the list above is not that extensive. A lot of people have been asking the same question after the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012. Many Sprint customers were left wanting for more as only a handful of upcoming Sprint phones were displayed at the CES. We all know that Sprint got some really decent phones last year but if it does not want to be left out of the competition, it will have to keep adding more of these smartphones this year as well.
