New story from desire brown. xo, about two best friends who go through their own adventure.
Don't worry people I won't base it on twilight.
Ever since I was little I have been fragile. I covered up the helpless person inside me, hoping no one would notice and hurt me. I was so afraid of getting hurt that I ended up hurting myself endlessly. To this day I conceal myself between walls so thick it destroys me. I am not always will be incapable of believing that anyone could ever love me. This is my story.
It all started when I was three years old. I met my soon to be best friend for life. Of course at the time I didn't know it, I could barely talk let alone anything else. Jarrod (jay) was my first best friend, he is like my brother. I love him more than my parents, I mean, I know that's harsh to my parents but one thing I learned in life: the truth hurts. Anyway as we grew older we made other friends of course, but we were still as close as we were at preschool all those years back. Of course my best friends Layla and Elise always were suspicious and teased me about him, especially after my 11th Birthday when he bought me a silver heart pendant for my necklace. It was at the age of 15 when things started to change.
"aa-arissa? I'm standing outside your window, can you let me in?" whispered a familiar voice into my mobile phone. I went to go open the back door, seeing as my window is on the second floor.
"Jay, what's wrong? You're shaking" I asked hugging him.
"It's her, she's back, sh..she kill..kill.." Jay choked out as tears spilt down his face.
I had only ever seen Jay cry twice before. Once was when we were kids and I broke my leg AND my arm, he got so worried about me that he didn't sleep until I recovered and the other time... His family isn't exactly... normal. They are a family of vampires.
The vampires have 3 enemies- werewolves, demons and the gemilisk. The werewolves live on the south side of town while the vampires live on the north. They look so ordinary and harmless in human form, not even Jays parents can tell. The demons, they live on the west side. They take human forms and live like any other human,, except for the fact that every lunar eclipse they grow wings and go serve the prince of darkness.
And the final one... the gemilisk. She is more evil than the devil himself, see, he has a soft side for me and Jay, oh and kittens. Gemelisks have no mercy. They are a type of succubus, which is a demomn who takes form of a really beautiful woman and seduces them then kills them. Gemilisks are pretty much that, except increase the gruesomeness by 100 and you're there.
Since we were little Jay and I both saw the Grim. The Grim is a large black dog with piercing red eyes that is believed to be the prince of darkness's only companion. He visits every year on each of our birthdays and just sits at the foot of the rocking chair in the dining room and watches us.
"Was it the gemil-"I started.
"Shhh- don't say her name, she's listening" he whispered.
"Okay, well let's just go to sleep for now and lets sort it out in the morning, this room is demon free remember?" I reassured him.
"Okay." He said. We climbed into bed and he wrapped his arms around me so tight I probably couldn't get out if I tried. I giggled quietly and fell asleep in his arms.
Jay's POV
I can't believe she's dead... and it's my entire fault. Sara... she was the only other person I loved other than arissa...
FLASHBACK
It was summer break and arissa, Sara, Brendan (arissa's boyfriend at the time), Demetri (arissa's cousin), Dylan (my cousin) and Dan (Sara's boyfriend) and me all went to Australia to escape our parents.
"Jay, are you okay? You seem so down" spoke that sweet voice I loved so much.
"Arissa I'm fine, really."
"I know you better than that and you know it"
"Okay, I'll tell you but please don't freak out or hate me" I said, trying to calm myself.
"Cross my heart and hope to die" she smiled sweetly
"You know I hate it when you say that, you are not going to die on my watch. But anyway I have to tell you that I lo-"
"Arissa we have to go to the Harbour bridge climb within 10 minutes or we won't make it!!!" interrupted Dan.
"Okay!!" she sighed, "Jay just tell me later okay? Have fun with that aussie girl from the mall!!!" she said as she kissed my cheek and left.
I sighed "I had to tell you that I love you" he whispered.
"Why didn't you just tell her?" said a voice behind me.
"I couldn't. It'll ruin everything we have, she's been my best friend since we were born. Plus, she wants me, I'm nowhere good enough for her. She's happy with Dan, yeah she's happy. That's all that matters, isn't it Sara? That she's happy?"
"What about your happiness? You deserve better too, and if she can't see how great you are and how lucky she would be to have you then she doesn't deserve you. You deserve someone who appreciates you Jay, remember that" she smiled and then walked away.
