Until Death Do Us Part

A dyeing soldier remembers his last memory with his wife.
Bullets whizzed by his head nevertheless he lay immobile behind the bulky upturned truck. Not capable to move his left leg he accepted that death would be what came next. Blood poured from the gash and he wondered if he even had the least amount chance of survival. He began to cough up blood and the enviably struck him like when granite hits stone. He knew death would be winning him and he took the instant to remember his wife and the life they made.

"Serenity?" She groaned and pulled the covers over her head.
"Wake up baby I’m getting ready to depart."
She slowly peeked over the edge of the covers. "Do you have to go?"
He frowned. "Baby, you know I have no choice."
She nodded and stood up walking around the bed to rest her head on his shoulder.
"I’m going to miss you."
He grabbed her hand tenderly and kissed her forehead. "I’ll think of you all the time."
She smiled. "And I will think of you."
He sighed." Funny isn’t it that we just got married a week ago?"
Serenity leaned back a little and looked into his astonishingly sea green and azure eyes. It’s funny how you can see a whole person’s past by looking into their eyes.
"Yeah just a week ago but now were at this point in the present and your leaving me already."
"Our first hurtle as man and wife."
"Yeah I’m going to have to get used to this hmmm?"
He shook his head." It will get better in time."
She closed her sorrowful coffee brown eyes for a moment before taking a deep breath.
"I know I know."
The thunderous sounds of knocking came to the door and Serenity jumped startled.
"It’s time for me to leave." He took a step towards her and wrapped her in an embrace of love and grief.
He kissed her passionately before he released her and whispered his last words.
"Until death do us part." Then he walked out the door and away from Serenity for the last time.

The memory faded and as Jordan took his last breath he whispered.
"Until death do us part."
