Unrequited To True Love

A broken heart...
You told me quick you loved me,
I believed it to be true;
Yet the feelings that I felt,
Were different from me to you.

I slowly learned to love you,
With time we could not part;
You became m best friend,
You took with you my heart.

You said you wouldn't break it,
A promise you made to me;
My heart is a fragile thing,
You must handle carefully.

But time I grew to realize,
What had once been too good to be true;
Jealousy, fights, and wrong doings,
Just to name a few.

I told you everything,
My secrets, my fears, my dreams;
You knew all about me,
Who cares now, it seems.

Now that it’s all over,
I have come to know;
That in order to heal my pain,
The first step is to let go.
