Unique Marriage Proposals - She won't be able to Say No to

Anyone can propose at a nice restaurant, but your girlfriend isn't just anyone, is she? There are so many really unique ways to propose to your girlfriend that will be just for her. Good or bad, she is going to remember her proposal forever. Her memories are up to you.
There are some typical marriage proposals that every Tom, Dick, and Harry seems to use when they propose. Most of these are variations of the dinner-at-a-nice-restaurant or walk-on-the-beach-at-sunset themes. While those are certainly romantic, they've been done countless times before. If you are looking for unique proposals to sweep your gal off her feet, you'll have to dig a bit deeper.

There is something very important to remember when you are planning your proposal; it's all about her. Really, it is her proposal, not yours. Do everything in your power to not just make it about her, but make it for her. That means make her proposal fit her and her personality.

You may think it's the coolest thing ever to take her to Cowboys Stadium and have Jody Dean read your proposal so 70,000 people can cheer for the two of you, but if she's not really into football, and the Cowboys specifically, it is the wrong choice. Likewise, if she's easily embarrassed, putting her on the spot like that isn't going to score you any points, even if she does say yes.

You should know that in a recent survey, approximately ¾ of women indicated they were not happy with their proposals. That's a pretty big number. You can avoid becoming another statistic here, but you have to do your homework. Chances are you know her better than anyone, and you are in a great position to find out everything you need to make her proposal one she'll never want to forget.

If you don't want to do the same, old proposal, here are some ideas that will get you thinking in a new direction. Remember, the perfect proposal is all about her, so personalize any of these into one that fits her.

White water rafting adventure proposal. If you are into outdoor adventure almost as much as she is, and are a good swimmer, the white water rafting proposal is perfect. You should get the guide involved with this one, because you'll need their knowledge of the river to find the perfect spot to pop the question.

Choose a river with some decent rapids. Early to mid summer is best. As the summer moves on, the snow melt that feeds the rivers starts to go away, and the river level recedes a bit. You want some rapids for this proposal to be the most effective.

As your raft is almost finished going through some decent sized rapids (not too big), pretend to fall out of the raft. (Wear a helmet and life preserver for safety. Your guide will probably make you do this anyway.) While you are in the water, get the ring from your pocket. During the preparation phase, make sure the ring is securely tied on or you'll lose it in the river. Swim back to the raft as it exits the rapids and the water is smoother. As you are next to the raft and she leans over the side to help you back into it, hold up the ring and propose to her. She will definitely be surprised!

The art gallery proposal is a unique way to propose, too. If she is an art lover, you can propose to her in an art gallery or museum. The secret isn't to just propose to her though. You'll need to set this proposal up with the gallery or museum management beforehand. Hire an artist to paint your proposal into a painting. They will have it on display before you arrive.

As you are going through and enjoying the different works of art, you will come upon your proposal, framed on the wall as are all the other paintings. As you pause in front of it to enjoy another work, she'll be surprised when she sees her name on the painting. As she sees it, get down on one knee, take out the ring, and propose to her.

Another unique marriage proposal is to get on a local TV show. Most major metro areas have some sort of local, afternoon TV shows. These are typically live with one or more hosts and some guests. In many cases they are promoting their new book or film. In some cases they are introducing a product they have invented.

The TV studios will typically have the front row of the studio audience pre-screened and ready for questions. Frequently the front row guests have some connection with the subject matter of the book or film. For example, if the author is touting their latest book on parenting, the front row may be filled with young parents.

You will obviously have to get the cooperation of the studio for this, but they love drama, and what's more dramatic than a live, on-air proposal? Have the host, who is in on the whole thing, ask you a segue question. That will lead you right into your proposal. Drop to one knee and propose, right there in high definition for all to see! If your girlfriend detests publicity, this is definitely not the right proposal for her. Try the white water rafting proposal instead.

There are as many proposal ideas as there are men proposing. The trick is to find the unique proposal that sets yours apart and makes her feel like she is the special woman you've always told her she is.
