A blog is not just a press release. It now appears in all kinds of contemporary written permutations. They can be served up to the search engines for indexing or you can attach a password so that only a few chosen individuals can read it. In terms of business, affiliate markets use blogs to share links with potential customers so that they can make a commission. Some companies use a blog as a way of introducing new products or as a way of offering assistance to customers.

A blog is a place for people to get unique information. Whether they are personal or for business the ones that succeed the most are the ones that are original. A blog is not something that it easily written by a ghostwriter because in the advertising world it is a form of branding that is all about connecting to the potential customer. The more familiar that your customer feels with you the more likely you are to be trusted and be bought from again and again.

Whether you consider blogs to be part of the legitimate news media or not, they are rapidly becoming a source of news that is used by everybody from CNN to college newspapers as a source of rumor. Depending on how you perceive this new form of news a blog can either be a reveal of the truth or a type of propaganda. The best blogs are a combination of both news and connecting to people.

Obviously as a forum, the blog offers more intimate contact with your readers and is less formal than a press release or the usual customer feedback reviews forms you find on larger sites. Also unlike larger merchant sites a blog allows you to moderate or edit any posts left on your blog so that you don’t end up with a site filled with spam or undesirable comments.
