Unfortunate Australians

This is about Australians and their attitude towards authoritative figures.
Today I see Australians in their thousands
Praising the first female Prime Minister
I know what's really in their heart though
Anger that just sits there like an evil curse
It sits there until it is ready to strike
It eats at you and eats at you
Until you can't take it no more
That's the way Australia is

Soldiers over in Afghanistan
They play a dirty game
Many are fallen within months
Those who are left fear their own safety
We don't understand how they feel
To us it's just another tragedy
Just like the Vietnam War
That's the way Australia is

We compare ourselves with other countries
We say to ourselves, "Geese aren't we lucky?"
But the question still remains
Are we really that lucky?
Or is it that we just don't seem to care?
We care enough to help other countries
When it comes to our country however
We couldn't care less
That's the way Australia is

Oil monsters destroy our nation
The defenses turn history so it repeats itself
Can't you all see what you've done?
Can't you all see what you're doing?
I think you just don't care!
We're the unknowing ones
Not anyone else, just us!
That's the way Australia is.
