5 years later
Evie's P.O.V
"Wind and fire exist through earth, all three elements bound my spirit." I told the first year half angels.
"Mrs. Benett, is the baby kicking?" Asked Faye, my most outspoken student.
"Yes, Faye the baby's kicking." I looked down at my huge pregnant stomach, and smiled. Overwhelmed with a feeling of love and warmth.
"Does it hurt when it kicks you like that." Asked another student.
I laughed, "No, not really, but it always surprises me, I'm still not quite used to it."
"But isn't this your second baby?"
"Okay we're getting way off topic here, as I was saying earth."
"Hey! Sorry for the interruption babe." Dominic walked into the classroom holding Aaiden, our two-year old son in his arms. "Do you know where I left the house keys?"
"Good afternoon Mr. Benett." The class said in unison, acting like perfect little angels.
"Good afternoon class."
"Please tell me you didn't just come and interrupt my class because you can't find the keys." I struggled to keep my voice low.
"Uh, I didn't just come and interrupt your class because I can't find the keys."
"Then why exactly did you come hubby?" Dominic said nothing and I scowled, "The keys are in the second cabinet to the left in the kitchen."
"Right, thanks Sweet pie." He turned to walk out and I cleared my throat.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" I asked pointing to my lips.
"Right sorry." I walked over and him and he gave me a soft kiss, the students whistled and laughed.
"Bye Nick see you at home." I kissed Aaiden on the cheek and waved goodbye at them.
"Aww, your husband's so sweet!" Said Crystal, my smartest student.
"Back to what I was saying, elements li-" the bell rang, stopping me mid sentence. Everyone hurriedly put their things away and rushed out the door. I started to erase the whiteboard.
"I can't believe, you chose to teach at this place for a living, wasn't it enough to learn here for a year?" I turned to face my annoying but lovable sister, Haley.
"Shouldn't you be helping Ivy with your wedding plans?"
"I'm getting married!"
"I know, I'm your maid of honor remember?"
"I know that you know but I just can't believe it!"
"I can, have you seen the way Nat looks at you? It's like he can't take his eyes off you."
"Is it really? Oh my gosh that's so sweet!"
"Yes it's really sweet that's why you should go spend more time with him, hurry along now."
"Are you trying to get rid of me?" She asked faking a hurt expression.
"Yes."
"Someone's moody, but fine, I'll go. See you in a while."
"Bye." Once Haley was gone, I slipped on my sweater and headed out. Halfway to the door my water broke. I looked down at the wet floor shocked.
"Crap." I took out my phone and called Dominic.
"Come on answer." The call went to voice mail. I called again but the phone slipped through my fingers when I saw the door light on fire. It spread faster than lighting. Sweat beaded my forehead from the heat of the angry flames. I felt like I was stuck inside an oven.
"Help!" I screamed praying someone would hear me, but it was Friday and school was over, everyone was exited to start with their weekend.
"Help me!" The flames crept closer to me threatening to reach me. I didn't want to die like this, what's worst was I was having contractions, it was time for the baby to come out.
"Don't let my baby die!" I yelled as my stomach tightened and I bent over in pain. The heavy smoke started to reach my lungs, I coughed and dropped on all fours, as I crawled, fire caught onto my sweater. I reached the door and turned the burning knob but it wouldn't open. I pulled back and cried out in pain, another contraction. And my hand hurt like hell from touching the door knob.
"My phone." Where was my phone? I could call someone to help me. I looked around frantically, my heartbeat racing faster than if I'd just ran for miles. There was no way I'd find my cell phone, the flames had swallowed it. In a matter of minutes they would swallow me and my unborn child too.
"It's okay baby, mommy's here." I cradled my stomach and sobbed. The fire reached my leg's and I screamed at the burning pain. Heat licked at my cheeks. The next second, the door swung open and someone's strong warm arms embraced me and pulled me out of the flames. It was an embrace so familiar I didn't need to look up to know who it was.
"Dominic." My voice was hoarse, like If I'd just swallowed a frog.
"You're okay now Evie, everything's okay."
"The baby..."
"We're going to the hospital, you'll give birth to the baby and everything will be fine." A tear drop fell on my forehead. Dominic's tear. He was crying.
"Dominic, your crying."
"No, you're wrong Honey, I have nothing to cry about."
"My eyes feel so heavy, I have to close my eyes."
"No!" Don't close your eyes, we're almost out of the school. The ambulance is on its way."
"I love you Dominic."
"Evie!"
Dominic's P.O.V
Her eyes shut but she continued breathing.
"You'll be fine Evie." Though I said the words I had difficulty believing them. What if she wasn't okay? She was badly hurt, and what if something happened to the baby?
I trudged down the stairs where a paramedic took Evie from my arms and hurried outside to get her into the ambulance.
The ride to the hospital was a blur, as was the birth of our child. Evie was slightly burned from the fire and it wasn't until 4 hours later I could go into the hospital room and see her. When I walked into the room tears welled into my eyes. She sat on the hospital bed holding our newborn daughter on one side of her and Aiden on the other.
"Dominic." She said when she saw me. I walked over to the bed and placed my hand on her cheek.
"Are you okay?"
"Of course I'm okay, aren't you going to say hi to your daughter?" I bent down and kissed her small warm forehead.
"She's adorable."
"Isn't she, what should we name her?" I had the perfect name.
"We decided on her name five years ago."
"Elaine."
"It's perfect." I said, smiling at Elaine, she got Evie's fiery hair, and my blue eyes, but most importantly she had our love.
"You're perfect too."
"Evie I'll protect you forever, I'll protect you from whoever started that fire."
"I guess there'll always be evil in the world."
"But as long as there's good everything will be fine."
Evie's P.O.V
"Congratulations!" Yelled Ivy, Kyle, Haley, Nat, Nelly, Mark, Aunt Madison, Zoey, My dad, and my grandma, they'd all burst into the room holding. "It's a girl," balloons and presents.
"She's so cute!" Shrieked Ivy who was now engaged to Kyle, they opened a restaurant together and were searching for a house to buy.
"What's her name?" Asked Nelly who was married to Mark, her guardian angel. They had a 1-year-old son.
"Elaine."
"That's a perfect name." Said Aunt Madison smiling at Elaine, who was now in Ivy's arms.
"Can I hold her?" Asked Zoey
"Of course." Said Dominic. Ivy handed Elaine to Zoey, she was 13 now and lot more mature. Greg and Jessica walked in a couple of minutes later, they were dating each other now.
While everyone in the room gave all their attention to Elaine ,I thought about the day I met Dominic. I had been instantly captivated by him. I remember one particular thing I'd told him.
"What are you thinking about." Asked Dominic cuddling up in the hospital bed next to me
"I was just thinking about what I told when I first met you."
"Ah, you mean when you said, 'If you do anything that shows you're a jerk, desperate, or a perv, I'm not putting up with it'."
I laughed, "You still remember that?"
"How could I forget, so tell me did I turn out to be any of those three things?"
"No Dominic, you turned out to be absolutely perfect."
"I'm not perfect Evie, no one is."
"You're perfect for me." I kissed him long and hard, not caring that Haley yelled out "Get a room!" Or that everyone whistled at us.
