Unfair Night

She whispered I love you
and I said so do I
but her mouth wasn't true
and my words never lie

I did believe her
also the night and the moon were taken in
so was the air
everything watched us then
the clouds, the sky and the rain
they could vouch
but she'd never care
I wish I hadn't been with her
I wish I'd died there
I wish it wasn't unfair

Now she's merry as I guess
but I'm so cheerless
she's got her happiness
but I haven't held my solace
