Unexpected
Natural calamity...

All are sleeping alive!
Street dogs begin to whine.
Cawing of crows begin in line.
Is something terrible going to happen?
What? When?
Tick, tick goes the clock.
No one hears the shake of the lock.
There is a loud rattling sound.
Wall mountings crash on the ground.
Members wake up with a shock.
In sleep, they are unable to take stock.
Like a sea saw, all slide.
They move from side to side.
Ceiling fan hits the floor.
Heard all around is people’s uproar.
This and more happen in a minute.
Animals and humans feel the death’s instinct.
All try to hold on to their own.
Within a minute, all is over and done.
Women and men are buried under wreckage.
Under the debris are kids of three and four years of age.
There is a mourning silence.
What is felt is death’s presence.
A weak moaning is heard.
Someone is alive among the dead?
Army plunges in to rescue operation.
We will save maximum lives is their resolution.
Earth trembled for less than a minute.
But its blow is worse than that of dynamite.
Earth, you did it on the sly?
No cue or hint; why?
Mother Nature, you could have given a signal?
Is it that you wanted to become sensational?
Whatever; you have committed a deadly sin.
Every life lost is your daughter or son.
In the earth quake, seen is your ugly color.
In our eyes, lost is your respect and honor.
