Understanding the Charms of Charm Bracelets of Gold

Many people have been wearing charms and charm bracelets since ages regardless of their sex, education, religion, or nationality. Gold charm bracelets had a high significance and importance in ancient times due to the precious metal used. Gold has been considered as the lucky metal itself as the color gold is often related to sun and hope.

Different charms are added to the gold charm bracelets and every amulet holds a different meaning and effect. People in previous eras thought that charms protect them from evil and bring prosperity. Hence, they had various figures associated with each. The same figures are still used by many and are added to the bracelet for good luck.

There are 10 most important charms, which are used since ancient times. Elephant is for happiness, heart for love, four-leaf clover for good luck, horseshoe magnet for money, die with 7 spots for gamblers luck, pig for prosperity, the number 13 for joy, hamsa hand for protection from evil eye, pansy for remembrance, and horseshoe for attraction.

Gradually people from different civilizations started adding their own charms according to the religion and tradition they followed. Chinese added precious stones like jade to their charm bracelets. Americans in the 20th century started using different metals for different charms. Italians started snapping the charms rather then hanging them on the bracelet. Soldiers when came back from the World War II brought gold charm bracelets with picture pendants and family signs on them for their loved ones. However, the idea and purpose of the bracelets remained the same.

Today people add whatever they think is lucky or looks good, to their charm bracelet. It is more of a fashion now to wear charm bracelets than any other purpose.
