Under the Midnight Sky: Chapter 1 Part 1

Miranda looked at her computer tired, she had been working all day on her case. She worked for the lay firm Jade, and her case was due in court in week but she was stuck. She looked around her office, so clean and impersonal, she never decorated not even a photo on her desk. She didn't wanna feel tied down anywhere knowing that in any minute she would have to leave, her eyes traveled to the name on her tag, Linda Lopez and her memory traveled to the moment where she had to take this name and run away from those who she once held dear.

50 years ago:

I didn't do it - Miranda screamed at the tall women in front of her, who would normally scare with her presence but not to Miranda, for this woman was her mother Griselda, leader of the Dareais were cat pack.

The evidence says you did, how could you? – Griselda said referring to the accusations of murder that had been put against her daughter.

But I didn't do it, and I don't know why Karla is saying something like that, i wasn't even in town when that happened remember, you sent me to find fresh grapes in California. - Miranda said defending herself from the false accusations put against her up to her arrival.

Just then the council followed by some members of the pack, came into the library where mother and daughter were talking.

Your majesty - said Harold, one of the council members - these members said they all saw Lady Miranda kill the girl just like miss Karla said she did.

It was her, don't try to hide it i saw you- said Karla pointing at her with her finger, god this girl is getting on my nerve.

Commoners out, only members of the royal family and council will discuss this. So leave now- said Griselda

Yes your Majesty - said Karla while bowing, with her the rest left.

What are we to do your majesty the pack is getting restless, they all want Lady Miranda dead. - said Greg, another council member - they say they want justice for the girl who died.

You guys aren't thinking of killing me are you? - Miranda asked

Of course nobody is killing you - said Griselda looking at her daughter, then she turned to the council - but we must do something, I suggest we send Miranda to Azara for a while till things cool down here. Do you all agree?

Yes your Majesty - said the council, with that they left leaving me and my mother alone.

Miranda, you know I don't want this to happen, we will make arrangement in Azara so that you don't receive the same treatment as the rest but you know that you will have to be there a while. - said Griselda

How long a while? - asked Miranda afraid of the answer she might get.

Between 20 and 30 years- said Griselda

Tear rolled down Miranda cheeks, she ran out of the library and went to her brother Oscars room but just as she got to the door she heard noises. She put her ear to the door and she was shocked at what she heard. She heard the grunts of a man and the shrieks of a woman who sounded like Karla and she felt disgusted. First, she was accused of murder by this woman and know she is with her brother, what does this woman got against me, Miranda thought as she crept into her bedroom.
