Derek's P.O.V.
Thursday night while everyone is sleeping

I walked down the aisle with pews surrounding me. I looked up at the large Cross above me. I knelt on the steps up to the stage. I looked up at the cross.

'Hey.' I said looking around making sure no one was listening. 'I've never really prayed on my own. So I'm kinda hoping your listening. You know Christina talks about you all the time. About how you save lives and make the impossible, possible.' I scratched the back of my neck. 'So I was wondering if you could be there for me tomorrow. You know, at the court case. I know it was self defense and I should have nothing to worry about but I'm still... nerves.' I sighed and looked down at my hands that were folded together. 'I'm sorry too. About my dad, I mean. I don't know if I should feel guilty or if I should feel sad or relieved or if I'm supposed to feel anything. I just need some answers.' I took another pause. 'I think this is the point when I say Amen. So, Amen.' I say.

I tiptoed upstairs and laid in my bed staring at the ceiling. There was a click at the door and Annie peaked in.

'Derek?'

'Yeah, Annie?' her cheeks were wet.

'I had a bad dream. Can I sleep with you tonight?' she asked me.

'You sure can.' I say moving over in my bed so she could come and lay next to me.

'Good night Derek.'

'Night' Annie.' I say closing my eyes.

Christina's P.O.V.
Next Day
Court House

'Breathe.' I kept reminding Derek.

'I'm trying.' He says looking around with wide eyes. We had just gone through tough questioning. I squeezed Derek's hand when the Judge came in and said,

'I declare it as Self Defense.' I loosened my grip and he looked over at me with a wide grin on his face. He stood and got hugs from his sister, his mother, and Betty. But I slowly stood and remembered the night everything happened. Everything went by really fast and I remember watching his wide beady eyes staring at me seductively. I remember him being on top of me while Derek stabbed and everything went black.

When I woke up I was laying in my bed. I sat up and looked around. Derek had his back to me but when he turn to look at me he quickly and gently pushed me back down on the pillow.

'Relax.' his eyes looked worried by I could tell he was trying to be calm. 'I was worried about you. You passed out.'

'Mhm?' I question.

'You scared us half to death. The others are downstairs.' he told me pressing a cold rag to my forehead. I looked up at him questioningly.

'How are you still confused?' he breathed a laugh.

'I'm wondering how I could get a guy as amazing as you' I told him.

'Baby I think it's the other way round.' he pressed it to my head again. I sat up straight and again he pushed me down. 'You need to sleep.'

'No.' I pouted.

'Why not?'

'I'm not tired. Plus I don't want you to leave.'

'I'll stay.'

'All night?'

'All night.'

'Okay.' I say relaxing back into my bed. My eye lids grew heavy and I started to drift off.

'Christina Rose I love you with all my heart.'
