Under-Eye Protection Checklist

Eye care is a serious topic. Not just the eyes, but the skin under the eyes as well. As many Americans get to the age when wrinkles form and dark circles invade the face, this is something not to be taken lightly.
Raise your hand if you care about your skin. Now, raise your hand if you care about the skin under your eyes. Your hands should be up sky-high right now. Did you know that the skin under the eyes is the first part of your body that deteriorates with aging? It's true. The skin under your eyes loses it's elasticity before any other part of skin on the body. That is why many people want to look for a product that provides a tightening effect for the skin. Lifting eye gels and serums were made with this in mind. There are many ways you can care for this delicate area of skin, if you just take the proper steps and start early in life. Here is a checklist you can follow to ensure you are doing all you can to keep that skin healthy and strong.

The first thing to keep in mind is the environment. By this I mean the sun. The sun is your worst enemy in the anti aging game. The sun can not only burn your skin and ruin the condition of it, but it can also increase the effect of wrinkles and allow wrinkles to grow at will on your face and neck. The sun is one element that you cannot fight against enough. Using a high-spf formula on your skin on a daily basis, but it's not the only thing you can do to stop it's harm. You should also wear eye protection, such as a low-fitting hat or even sunglasses, to best protect yourself from the sun. Of course, extreme exposure is never recommended, but if you find yourself doing that, go ahead and protect yourself with a lot of sunscreen. Before and after the sun, add moisturizer to your skin and face.

Use an eye cream. You may think this is unnecessary, but it is. Eye creams are made with superb ingredients that are backed by clinical studies in most cases. A good eye cream will work therapeutically on your skin and help keep the skin under the eyes firm, strong, and smooth.

Avoid squinting. If you are in the sun, you are sure to squint on occasion. Squinting induces wrinkles and speeds up their arrival process. Squinting happens when we look at bright light, try to focus on an object, or try to read things that are out of our eye's sight line.

Don't smoke. Smoking adds wrinkles much faster in people versus people who don't smoke. Smoking is your skin's worst nightmare, and if you smoke, you WILL wrinkle and lose suppleness to your skin. This is especially important for the area of the skin we are referencing today, the under-eye skin.

If you follow these tips, and stay hydrated, you are well on your way to a healthy under-eye area. Of course, diet and nutrition play a part as well, but that goes unsaid with most things in life.
